Description
From the US tour accompanying the release of “ONE OF A KIND” under the name of Bruford in 1979, the show at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia on July 20th was recorded almost completely with a good audience recording that could be considered A rank at the time. First of all, Holdsworth had already left the band about two months earlier on the Euro tour, and John Clark had joined. And it felt like the four-piece ensemble had finally been established on this US tour, and the set was well-balanced, including numbers from the previous album “FEEL SO GOOD”. First, the album starts with “Hell’s Bells” with a tense sound effect, and the moody “Fainting In Coils” has an arrangement unique to live performances, with Bill’s solo “Back To The Beginning” inserted. Then, in the middle, the challenging jazz-rock “Beelzebub” and the UK-famous “The Sahara Of Snow” are improvised almost twice as much as on the album. And in the technical “Five G,” Jeff and Dave respond with interplay, as if responding to Bill’s superb drumming. Another highlight is the delicate jazz ensemble that is different from Holdsworth’s, which has been developed with the addition of John Clark. This is a must-listen item for fans who can enjoy not only Bruford’s amazing drumming, but also the wonder of the band ensemble. DISC 1 : 01. Hells Bells/02. Sample And Hold/03. Fainting In Coils/04.
