The comeback tour, supporting “VAPOR TRAILS,” went through North America three times, and finally to Brazil. The official “RUSH IN RIO” was the final stop, “Brazil,” but the Atlanta performance on this release was the 17th show of “North America #3,” about a month earlier. The Atlanta performance is also remembered for the superb soundboard recording that was preserved. That was the great masterpiece “EARTHSHINE” that took the world by storm. This release features the original master directly from those involved, and its overwhelming quality caused it to sell out and go out of print almost immediately. It had been extremely difficult to obtain for a long time. This release is a meticulous reproduction of that mega-hit. In fact, the sound is “superb.” Although it is in mono, the basic quality is not even a step behind the official “RUSH IN RIO”…in fact, you could say it surpasses it in terms of raw, unprocessed/unedited authenticity. The separation, punch, balance, everything is perfect. What is particularly noteworthy is the incredibly beautiful bass. Geddy Lee’s bass is thick, raw, and lustrous, and the bass of the synths is thick yet delicate. Moreover, each note is not just vivid. There is a level of detail that allows you to feel the waveform and amplitude of the vibe residing in each note. In “Limelight,” Geddy coughs, which is rare for him, but even that faint sound can be heard. The resolution is so high that it easily surpasses any ordinary FM broadcast. Among the many RUSH soundboard recordings, this is truly the highest level. A must-listen set that is different from RUSH IN RIO. This is a semi-official, superb soundboard recording that could be called the North American version of “RUSH IN RIO,” the South American version. This is a superb soundboard recording of the resurrected RUSH, who have returned after overcoming deep sorrow, and it is an absolute record that will engrave the unprocessed/unedited live performance into your brain.
