Description
This is the ultimate collection compiling 25 years of studio outtakes since the band’s formation. It serves as the concluding chapter in the series of studio session albums. Packed with rare gems that do not overlap at all with previous releases, the tracklist includes “One More Chance” (the prototype for “Mr. Make Believe”), “Just Gimme Love” (which evolved into “You Wanted The Best” twenty years later), and “Roar of The Greasepaint” (the basis for “Journey of 1,000 Years”). It captures the very moments these classic songs were born. This is a new masterpiece that can be enjoyed as a brand-new KISS album in its own right. Spanning the era from their debut *KISS* (1974) to *Psycho Circus* (1998), this sensational release gathers elusive outtakes created during the band’s first quarter-century. Sourced through exclusive insider channels, this “lost session album” is finally seeing the light of day! The release features 18 studio tracks totaling approximately 61 minutes. While we have offered numerous session albums from this label in the past, this title stands as the definitive conclusion to the series—a collection of genuine rarities that shares no overlap with any previous outtake compilations. Beyond mere rarity, the audio quality is superb; the listening experience is so satisfying that it feels like hearing a brand-new KISS album. The tracks are arranged chronologically. Let’s dive into the contents. Outtakes from the Golden Era of the 70s (11 tracks) — 1973: The Debut Era (1 track). We begin with treasures from the 70s Golden Era, a time when KISS was skyrocketing to stardom. The opening track, “Nothin’ To Lose,” is a distinct and significantly different take recorded during the famous Bell Sound Studios sessions (November 24/25). 1975: *Dressed to Kill* / *Alive!* Era (2 tracks). “See You Tonite” is an alternate take that, despite being recorded after *Dressed to Kill*, was not included even in the official Super Deluxe Box set. “Man of a 1000 Faces” is also a version distinct from previously released ones—a track truly befitting Gene, the “Man of a Thousand Faces.” 1976: *Destroyer* / *Rock and Roll Over* Era (3 tracks). A highlight of the mid-section. “Always Near You,” “One More Chance,” and “Dreamer” all appear to date from around the *Destroyer* period. “One More Chance,” in particular, is an intriguing track, serving as an early version of the later classic “Mr. Make Believe.” Then there is “Dreamer,” a superb, fully realized unreleased song; given its high quality, it must have been considered for inclusion on an album. 1977–1978: *Love Gun* through *Double Platinum* Era (3 tracks). “Just Gimme Love” is a song that, after twenty years, would evolve into “You Wanted The Best.” “Rockin’ In the USA” is an early version of the track found on Side D of *Alive II*. “Fourever” is a song Gene wrote in an attempt to create a new anthem—akin to “Rock and Roll All Nite”—that would showcase the strong bond and unity among the four members; it was slated for inclusion as a new track on *Double Platinum*, alongside Ace Frehley’s “Queen for a Day.” 1979: *Dynasty* Era (2 tracks). “Only You” is a version completely different from the one we know well from *Music from “The Elder.”* “Sweet Temptation” is another fantastic track, created after *Dynasty* but before *Unmasked*. Outtakes from the 1980s and beyond (7 tracks). 1980: *Unmasked* Era (3 tracks). This collection also features numerous hidden gems from the post-1980s era, following the breakup of the original lineup. We begin with the *Unmasked* era. “You’re All That I Want” is an early version that differs significantly from the track included on the album. “You’re My Reason For Livin'” is a song that would resurface several times in KISS’s later history, but the version included here is the earliest surviving take from the *Unmasked* era. Meanwhile, “Am I Losing My Mind” is a hidden gem that capped off the *Unmasked* sessions. 1988: The *Smashes, Thrashes & Hits* Era (1 track): We now fast-forward to 1988 and the Bruce Kulick/Eric Carr lineup. “Mirage” was a candidate for a new song written specifically for the greatest hits compilation. 1997/1998: The *Psycho Circus* Era (3 tracks): The final section jumps ahead another decade to the *Psycho Circus* sessions. “In Your Face” is an original demo featuring lead vocals by Gene Simmons himself. The last two tracks were recorded in 1998. “I Wanna Rule The World” is a song originally written during the *Carnival of Souls* era that was reconsidered for *Psycho Circus*; while *The Complete Carnival of Souls Sessions 1994-1996* is being released simultaneously, the version here is a distinct 1998 recording. Finally, the closing track, “Roar of The Greasepaint,” is a true masterpiece. It is a powerful, impressive work that would later evolve into “Journey of 1,000 Years” on *Psycho Circus*, and there could be no more fitting song to conclude this entire series of outtakes. This album compiles a collection of elusive outtakes—hidden beneath the surface of the massive KISS saga—spanning a quarter-century since the band’s formation. This collection features tracks such as “One More Chance” (the prototype for “Mr. Make Believe”), “Just Gimme Love” (which evolved into “You Wanted The Best”), and “Roar of The Greasepaint” (the basis for “Journey of 1,000 Years”). It serves as the grand finale to a session series that stunned collectors worldwide with its leaked master recordings sourced from industry insiders; it is a “hidden gem” that can be enjoyed in its entirety as a brand-new KISS album.
