Description
This is a live performance from Munich, Germany (July 11, 1989), featuring the virtuoso jazz-rock guitarist John McLaughlin performing alongside an orchestra and his ex-wife, Katia Labèque. The set includes contemporary New Age-style jazz tracks where the crystalline tones of McLaughlin’s acoustic guitar intertwine with the piano work of François Couturier and Katia Labèque. Although Pat Metheny had claimed the title of the era’s leading guitarist, McLaughlin’s commanding presence remained undiminished; he would eventually make a spectacular comeback to the cutting edge of the music scene with his triumphant performance at the Royal Albert Hall in the 1990s. Live in Munich, Germany (July 11, 1989): 1. Brise de Coeur 2. Montana 3. “The Mediterranean” Concerto – Rhythmic 4. “The Mediterranean” Concerto – Slow and Sad 5. “The Mediterranean” Concerto – Animato
