This release features nearly complete recordings of the September 15th and 16th shows in Port Chester, New York, from the North American tour accompanying the 2015 album “STANDING IN THE BEACH,” using soundboard recordings leaked by staff members at the time. These are direct-to-mix soundboard recordings recently released by staff members from that era. While they lack some of the live atmosphere, they are completely unprocessed and unedited, allowing the vocals, guitars, and keyboards to resonate with a realistic, live sound, and the subtle band ensemble details to be directly conveyed. The band also performed in Japan that year, later releasing the official album “THE ROAD EAST LIVE IN JAPAN.” However, this fall’s US tour reflected the album’s strong country influences, featuring a duo of Larry Campbell and Theresa Williams as the opening act. Furthermore, they didn’t just stay as the opening act; Larry Campbell fully participated on steel guitar, even joining in on the first half and the last two songs of the main set. In the first half of the show, they performed “These Days,” “My Opening Farewell,” and Warren Zevon’s “Mama Couldn’t Be Persuaded,” and the unexpected lineup was impressive, with Theresa Williams taking the lead vocals instead of Jackson on “My Opening Farewell.” Another highlight is that, as they are performing on consecutive days, the setlist changes considerably, and fans should definitely check it out as they get to hear many rare tracks from the album.
