Description
“THE BRUCE McMOUSE SHOW,” which was unearthed as live footage of the original Wings and thrilled fans worldwide, is something we’d like to say, but the structure, which literally involved animation of a mouse backstage, ended up interrupting the live scenes, and above all, the video undeniably looked dated. So, the scenes with the mouse between songs were removed, and the DVD was reorganized to include only the 1972 live repertoire, including “Seaside Woman,” and this was the long-sold-out “WINGS OVER EUROPE” DVD. However, this time, while covering all the performance scenes from “THE BRUCE McMOUSE SHOW,” the footage has been rearranged in the actual order of the live performance. Therefore, this time it starts with the opening song “Big Barn Bed,” and the audio has also been replaced from lip-syncing to the Newcastle live audio included on the “WINGS OVER EUROPE” CD. Furthermore, the interactions with the mouse between songs have been completely cut. However, cutting such scenes is only natural, and this time, the scenes and dialogue of the mouse that appeared during the performance have been thoroughly cut! For example, in “Eat At Home” and “Bip Bop,” rats appear repeatedly to the point of disrupting the performance, but this time, they’ve been cleverly and meticulously edited, essentially replacing them with Wings footage. This fits in so naturally that you wouldn’t think it was reused from other cuts. In fact, you might even mistake it for the original live footage being like this from the start. Naturally, the interaction with the rats at the end of “The Mess” has also been completely removed. On top of that, the audio has been re-overlaid from the ‘WINGS OVER EUROPE’ CD. Of course, the rats that literally play with the blue moon in “Blue Moon Of Kentucky” are also gone. They’ve even succeeded in burying the rats’ lines heard in those songs! The film was initially planned to be made using live footage from 1972, but because more close-up shots and scenes introducing songs were needed, the two lip-synced songs were filmed during post-production in 1973. So, not only the opening “Big Barn Bed,” but also Linda’s “Seaside Woman” was replaced with live audio from the Groningen concert included on the “WINGS OVER EUROPE” CD. This resolved one of the unnatural aspects of “THE BRUCE McMOUSE SHOW,” which was the presence of two lip-synced songs in the middle of the live footage. In this way, the audio from the “WINGS OVER EUROPE” CD was made to the fullest extent, and this editing also allows the finale “Long Tall Sally,” which faded out with the title sequence in the actual film, to be viewed all the way through in both performance and visuals. Finally, as a bonus, the 8mm footage of the 1972 tour, “EAT AT HOME ON TOUR,” which appeared on YouTube a few years ago, has been stabilized and included. The color 8mm footage in particular was very shaky, so this makes it surprisingly easy to watch. Thanks to the meticulous editing, it was indeed valuable live footage, but the animation was unnecessary… This superb finish has satisfied the feelings of fans who felt that way.
