Description
This release features Wayne Shorter’s 1991 live performance at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York, with both the first and second shows on separate discs. While it’s an audience recording, the sound quality is exceptional, thanks to the renowned taper TapeTyrant, known for his excellent jazz fusion audience recordings. Jazz clubs generally offer clean recordings, but the key is the level of audience noise. This recording is virtually free of such noise, making it perfect. Sections with near-silence between songs are skillfully edited to create a smooth and enjoyable listening experience. The second show begins with a phrase from Miles Davis’s “Sanctuary,” followed by an introductory announcement—an incredibly cool moment. The setlists differ considerably between the first and second shows, making this a delightful coupling. Because Shorter’s performances often have many quiet sections, audience recordings are generally of poor quality. However, this item is arguably the best audience recording of Shorter’s work and is a must-listen.
