Description
With only two solo performances scheduled in Japan in 2026, one in Tokyo and one in Osaka, this release features a full 1 hour and 44 minute recording of the March 25th show at Zepp Namba in Osaka, captured from a high-quality audience master released by the taper. The sense of presence is incredible, thanks to the intimate setting of the live house, with no sense of distance and a strong sense of separation. The setlist was exactly the same as the one in Tokyo two days earlier, leading one to expect a setlist similar to his previous year’s tour. However, he suddenly started with “Everybody” from 2015, followed by many core selections including songs from “A Cappella” and numbers from his solo albums from the 80s and 90s onward. Of course, there was also a Motown medley from the 70s’ “How Many Times Have I Ever Been a Star,” songs from “Faithful,” and of course, “I Saw the Light” and “Can We Still Be Friends,” before ending with “Hello It’s Me,” a setlist that truly summarized his career of over half a century. In addition, this limited-edition memorial item for the Japan tour completely recreates the blissful atmosphere of the final performance, which included a long-awaited cover of Cole’s “The Walls Came Down” and the participation of Kasim Sulton, a close friend from Utopia.
