Description

The latest and final installment (and masterpiece!) of the new soundboard series by engineer “Roy,” who imprints live performances never before heard onto your brain, is finally being released! This release permanently preserves the “Buenos Aires performance on February 12, 1983 (Day 2),” a superb stereo soundboard recording. For those who have followed the series, this is the final release. To help organize your collection, let’s start with an overview of his activities, as usual. 1982 “HIDE YOUR SHEEP Tour” – July 14th – August 21st: North America #1 (26 shows) ← *8 works – September 1st – 25th: North America #2 (17 shows) ← *4 works – October 7th – December 11th: North America #3 (38 shows) ← *3 works 1983 “NO PROBLEM Tour” – Date unknown “REHEARSALS 1983 SOUNDBOARD” – January 14th – February 12th: South America (15 shows) ← ★HERE★ “US FESTIVAL ‘83” – May 21st “US FESTIVAL REHEARSAL 1983 SOUNDBOARD” – May 29th: Appearance at US Festival This is Van Halen in 1982/1983. The final recording in the “Roy” collection itself is “US FESTIVAL REHEARSAL 1983 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 850),” but this is the last release from our store. It was a segment from their only “South American” tour. Now, let’s focus on the dates in more detail. Details of the “South America (“NO PROBLEM Tour”)” – January 14: Caracas (Day 1) * January 15: “CARACAS 1983 SOUNDBOARD” * January 16: “CARACAS 1983 SOUNDBOARD (Partial)” * January 21: “SAO PAULO 1983 1ST NIGHT SOUNDBOARD” – January 22: São Paulo (Day 2) – January 23: São Paulo (Day 3) – January 26: Rio de Janeiro (Day 1) * January 27: “RIO DE JANEIRO 1983 2ND NIGHT SOUNDBOARD” * February 1: “PORTO ALEGRE 1983 1ST NIGHT SOUNDBOARD” * February 5: “MONTEVIDEO 1983 SOUNDBOARD – February 11th: Buenos Aires performance * February 12th: Buenos Aires performance ←★This release★ The final installment in the series, and the longest and greatest masterpiece yet…that’s how it is. Thanks to everyone, the “Roy” series has grown into a large family, and this release is its finale. It’s the second day of the two-day Buenos Aires show, the finale of the South American tour, the “NO PROBLEM Tour,” and the grand finale of the entire tour accompanying “DIVER DOWN” (the US festival afterwards was not planned at the time). Pro-shot footage of the first day in Buenos Aires was known for some time, but there were no recordings of the second day, including audience recordings. But now you can experience it with this first-ever soundboard recording. What’s even more significant is the volume, which is only appearing for the first time. The recording time is approximately 123 minutes, making it the longest recording in Leeds history, exceeding two hours! This album breaks the record set by surpassing the previous releases, ‘PORTO ALEGRE 1983 1ST NIGHT SOUNDBOARD’ (approximately 117 minutes) and ‘MONTEVIDEO 1983 SOUNDBOARD’ (approximately 114 minutes). The ultra-high-quality, direct-to-mix-board sound that is a hallmark of this newly unearthed series is maintained in this work as well. However, this length is unprecedented. The final installment in the series has resulted in the longest and greatest masterpiece yet. This miraculous live album features the most mind-blowing show in VH history, and this masterpiece soundboard captures the grand finale of the South American tour. Let’s start by breaking down the setlist. The Fuse of Fire (6 songs) – Runnin’ With the Devil / Jamie’s Cryin’ / Little Dreamer / Ice Cream Man / Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love / You Really Got Me (Happy Trails) Diver Down (8 songs) – The Full Bug / Little Guitars / Where Have All the Good Times Gone! / Dancing In The Street / Cathedral / Secrets (★) / Intruder / (Oh) Pretty Woman Others (10 songs + α) – The Legendary Bomber: Dance the Night Away / Somebody Get Me a Doctor / Bottoms Up! – Others: Romeo Delight / Unchained / So This Is Love? / God Bless The Child (Theme from New York, New York: ★) / Everybody Wants Some!! / Summertime Blues / Heartbreak Hotel *Note: Songs marked with “★” were not available on the previous album, ‘MONTEVIDEO 1983 SOUNDBOARD’. It was the final day of the tour, and the band was in full-on party mode. The concert was advertised as “the most mind-blowing Van Halen concert ever,” and that statement is absolutely true. Improvisation and playful antics filled the entire show, and that energy resulted in the longest concert ever at 123 minutes. For example, Dave immediately shouted “Van Halen!” with unbridled energy at the start of the show, then launched into a monologue about dreams and pickles during “Little Dreamer,” and delivered his signature joke of “No recuerdo las palabras (I forgot the lyrics)” during “Romeo Delight.” Furthermore, during “Where Have All the Good Times Gone!”, he quipped, “I forgot the lyrics again. But it’s the last day, and you guys probably don’t understand English anyway. I don’t understand it either.” The “I forgot the lyrics” routine, which wasn’t done at other shows on the South American tour, only appeared because of the liberating feeling of the final day. And of course, it wasn’t just Dave. The jam on “Somebody Get Me a Doctor” has evolved even further, and the inclusion of a phrase from “House of Pain” is not to be missed. There’s a subtly amusing moment when Alex starts playing drums before “Dance The Night Away,” and Dave says, “That’s right…it’s good,” to which Ed replies, “It’s different from yesterday, though” (referring to the fact that the order of “Dance The Night Away” and “Somebody Get Me a Doctor” was swapped from the previous day). Furthermore, we get to hear “Secrets,” which wasn’t on the previous release, and “God Bless The Child” incorporates “Theme from New York, New York.” I’ve listed quite a few points, but it’s precisely because this show is so intense, with highlights in every detail, that both the show and the recording have become the longest in the series. This is the grand finale of engineer “Roy’s” newly unearthed soundboard series, and it’s a masterpiece that exceeds two hours, making it the longest in the series to date. Moreover, it’s not just long, but an intensely concentrated live album that erupts with an unprecedented level of explosive energy and fervent prayer. This soundboard album imprints onto your brain a night from the final show of their one and only South American tour, a night for which no recordings have ever existed before. In every sense of the word, it is an absolute must-listen, must-have, and unavoidable masterpiece. A superb stereo soundboard recording of the “Buenos Aires performance on February 12, 1983 (Day 2)”. The final installment in engineer “Roy’s” new discovery series, and the longest recording to date, exceeding two hours. The birth of a masterpiece live album that pours the most mind-blowing full show in history into your brain. Estadio Obras Sanitarias, Buenos Aires, Argentina 12th February 1983 Disc:1 (46:53) 1.
