Description
This release couples recordings from Miles Davis’s 1983 Japan tour, hailed as the best tour of his 1980s Japan tour in terms of performance, band members, and Miles’s condition, specifically the live shows held at the Osaka Festival Hall on May 25th and 26th. Both recordings are high-quality audience masters, digitally remastered in 2026. While neither is complete, with the first day’s recording at 67 minutes and the second at 51 minutes, both are recordings that have rarely been released before, and both days have been restored to the highest quality sound by reducing hiss noise and adjusting the overall balance. The live performance, featuring two great guitarists, Mike Stern and John Scofield, starts off strong with “Come Get It,” a staple of both Japan tours, and Miles immediately hits a high/long note from the very first note, knocking out the audience. He then plays an emotional tone in the blues, showing a level of excellence that makes his ragged state just two years earlier seem like a lie. Miles Davis is in top form, of course, but John Scofield and Mike Stern, the two guitarists who are the heart of this tour, are also in excellent shape, with Stern’s creative phrasing particularly evident in his solos. This is a must-have item for fans, realistically recreating the legendary 1983 Osaka concert in Japan. DISC 1 : 1. Band Warming Up 2. COME GET IT 3. NEW BLUES (STAR PEOPLE) 4.
