Description
An upgraded version of “the last soundboard of the 70s” has arrived! It’s a definitive edition that includes three extremely rare bonus tracks from the legendary “Sabbath with Dave Walker,” making it a permanent keepsake! The main focus of this work is a stereo soundboard recording of the “December 7, 1978 Abilene performance.” This CD also includes a bonus track sung by Dave Walker. 1978 was the last year of the original Sabbath, following the release of “Never Say Die.” Since the “Dave Walker era” is briefly included during this period, let’s take a look back at their activities at the time and confirm the position of this work. 1977 {April 22: End of TECHNICAL ECSTASY Tour} {Ozzy Osbourne leaves in September → Dave Walker joins in October} 1978 January 6: Appearance on “LOOK! HEAR!” ←★Bonus of this work★ {Walker leaves in January → Ozzy returns} ・May 16-22: UK (6 shows) ・May 25-June 19: UK (20 shows) ←※Official footage ・August 22-September 30: North America #1 (31 shows) {“NEVER SAY DIE!” released on September 29} ・October 9-22: Europe (10 shows) ・November 3-December 11: North America #2 (31 shows) ←★Main feature of this work★ The highest peak update of the sound board with super rare songs This is BLACK SABBATH from 1977/1978. Speaking of the “NEVER SAY DIE Tour,” the official pro shot from the Hammersmith performance is famous, but this Abilene performance comes six months later. It was the 28th performance of “North America #2,” the final stage of the world tour. It was the final concert, with four performances remaining before Ozzy’s departure. The soundboard recorded at this show is also known as the final live recording of the 1970s. This work is the pinnacle of that. It is a definitive edition, meticulously mastered from the best existing masters. The basic Gene is not significantly different from the previous version, but the longer recording of “Symptom of the Universe,” which begins with a fade-in, certainly confirms that it is a younger stage. Of course, that is merely evidence; the sound that permeates the entire work is what is important. While not a type that claims to be “completely official!”, the direct-coupled, extremely thick feel is powerful, and the wider, more expansive feel is also wonderful. The previously slightly thin bass is powerful, and the bass drum is powerful enough to kick up your five organs and shake your six entrails. This soundboard, revived with the highest quality, truly represents the final brilliance of the golden age. The greatest and most powerful feature is the ultra-rare song “Shock Waves”! This precious song was only performed at limited performances on the “NEVER SAY DIE Tour” and is not even included in the official Hammersmith footage. This is the one and only soundboard that contains this extremely rare song. The main story alone is heartwarming, but it also includes three bonus tracks sung by Dave Walker, an extremely rare track that can only be heard on this album. All of these are Sabbath songs by the band’s second singer, Dave Walker. While AI technology was used to create the sound, it’s not the trendy artificial intelligence. Every note of the performance and vocals is authentic, performed by BLACK SABBATH. The first track, “Junior’s Eyes (‘Look! Hear!’ Live),” is a studio performance from an appearance on the TV show “Look! Hear!” and is the only live performance by Sabbath with Walker. While this live performance has been known for some time, this release was released on CD in late 2025 from a newly discovered pro-shot master and further refined with AI remastering. After being demixed, each instrument and vocal was individually refined, ensuring a permanent preservation of the highest quality. The second track is “Junior’s Eyes (1978 Vocal Remix),” which extracts Walker’s vocals from “Look! Hear!” and mixes them with the performance of “Junior’s Eyes” from the official album “NEVER SAY DIE!”. This dream track embodies the historical “what if” moment: “NEVER SAY DIE!” had been produced with Walker still as the vocalist. The final track, “She’s Gone (2018 Vocal Remix),” is a Walker version of the classic ballad, produced using the same techniques. The performance is of course the studio version from “TECHNICAL ECSTASY,” with a mix of vocals from the band’s 2018 tribute project, EMERALD SABBATH. His intensely brooding vocals bring out a new charm in this classic ballad, making it a must-listen that transcends even the “ifs” of history. Four days after this release, Ozzy Osbourne left BLACK SABBATH after completing the “NEVER SAY DIE Tour,” bringing the golden ’70s to a close. This final live recording is a top-notch sound CD, and a miraculous release that extends all the way back to the legendary Dave Walker era. The stereo soundboard recording of the “December 7, 1978 Abilene concert” features the rare track “Shock Waves.” This definitive edition, meticulously mastered from the best existing masters, also includes three bonus tracks sung by Dave Walker. In particular, “Junior’s Eyes (1978 Vocal Remix)” and “She’s Gone (2018 Vocal Remix),” which mix Walker’s vocals with Sabbath’s studio recordings, are extremely rare treasures that can only be heard on this album.
