Description
With the news of the band’s restart, the RUSH collector scene has suddenly become heated. This newly discovered live album is the result of that passion. This work captures the “December 9, 1982 Uniondale performance.” It’s a clear audience recording from a segment of the “SIGNALS Tour.” The “SIGNALS Tour” is also known as a hidden gem of sound sources. We’ve only just introduced “SIGNALS IN BIRMINGHAM 1983 (Uxbridge 466).” This is a good opportunity to take a bird’s-eye view of their activities at the time and first confirm this album’s position. 1982 “SIGNALS Warm Up Tour” April 1st-12th: North America #1 (11 shows) “SIGNALS Tour” September 3rd-December 15th: North America #2 (43 shows) ←★Here★ 1983 February 11th-April 9th: North America #3 (34 shows) May 3rd-25th: Europe (16 shows) ←※SIGNALS IN BIRMINGHAM “GRACE UNDER PRESSURE Warm Up Tour” September 18th-23rd: North America #4 (5 shows) This is RUSH in 1982/1983. The “SIGNALS Warm Up Tour” was before the album was produced, and the “SIGNALS Tour” after completion was from “North America #2” to “Europe”. The Uniondale performance in this work was the 23rd concert of “North America #2”, the early part of that. This vacuum-packed recording of the show is a fresh and beautifully beautiful recording. While the recording itself has been known for some time, this work is a different upgraded master. While the latest transfer from the original master is impressive, the phase adjustment is even more significant. Previously, the master experienced phase inversion in the left channel. This work not only eliminates phase inversion, but also corrects any slight misalignment, ensuring crisp, centered localization. This further highlights the merits of the original recording. While the sound is reminiscent of an audience that absorbs hall noise, there’s no sense of distance. The performance sound, which penetrates the clear, immersive atmosphere, is incredibly detailed, reaching you without cloudiness or turbidity. The unfailing smoothness of the original master is superb, and from the rise of each note to the moment of mute, even the subtlest details flow without distortion. This beautiful, clear sound depicts the full show of the “SIGNALS Tour,” a recording that was once considered a hidden gem. Let’s take a look at the full set, focusing on the repertoire from both the batting and pitching sides. Moving Pictures (6 songs): Tom Sawyer / Vital Signs / The Camera Eye / Red Barchetta / Limelight / YYZ Signals (7 songs): Digital Man / Subdivisions / Chemistry (★★) / The Analog Kid / The Weapon / New World Man / Countdown (★★) Others (7 songs + 3 songs): 70s: Closer To The Heart / The Trees / 2112 (Overture) / 2112 (Temples Of Syrinx) / Xanadu / La Villa Strangiato / In The Mood 80s: The Spirit Of Radio / Freewill / Broon’s Bane (★) *Note: ★ denotes songs that were no longer performed after this tour. ★★ denotes songs exclusive to the “SIGNALS Tour.” …And so it goes. The album is centered around the still-popular “MOVING PICTURES” album and the new “SIGNALS” album, and features every track from each album except for “Witch Hunt” and “Losing It.” Of course, the “SIGNALS” tracks are the most valuable, with “Chemistry” and “Countdown” being exclusive tracks only performed on this tour. “Chemistry” in particular is a delightful track not even heard on the tour’s final masterpiece, “SIGNALS IN BIRMINGHAM.” While we can’t wait for the new RUSH “Fifty Something Tour” starting next year, news of their reboot seems to have revitalized their archives. This is the fruit of that labor, a new masterpiece from the “SIGNALS Tour.” This is a clear audience recording from the “December 9, 1982 Uniondale concert.” Not only is it a brand new transfer from the original master, but the phase of the left channel, which was inverted in the previous master, has also been sharply corrected. With the beautiful sound that can only be achieved through clear and detailed customer records, you can experience the full show of “MOVING PICTURES” and “SIGNALS” on the spot.
