Description
CHICAGO achieved their fourth consecutive No. 1 album in the US with “CHICAGO VIII” in 1975. Now, a soundboard album that synchronizes the whole body with the live performance has arrived. This work was recorded at the “April 13, 1975, New York City” performance. It is a superb stereo soundboard recording. Speaking of 1975, the excavated live album “CHICAGO XXXIV: LIVE IN ’75” was officially released, but of course, this work is a different performance. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the band’s activities at the time and examine the position of this work. February 23rd / March 11th: North America #1 (2 shows) {“CHICAGO VIII” released March 24th} April 11th – July 6th: North America #2 (31 shows) ←★here★ July 25th – August 1st: North America #3 (7 shows) August 15th – September 20th: North America #4 (15 shows) October 7th – 23rd: North America #5 (12 shows) November 7th – 25th: North America #6 (12 shows) This is the highest quality, fully official soundboard recording of 1975 Chicago. This New York performance was the third performance of “North America #2,” which took place shortly after the album’s release. The official recording date for “CHICAGO XXXIV: LIVE IN ’75” was June 24th – 26th, and this work was released about two months earlier. This show was also known for being broadcast on radio, and this work was released on CD from the latest master. The quality is simply “fully official.” Not only is the sound quality perfect, but the mix of each instrument is precise, providing a sense of balance and stability. It’s free of the cluttered feel often associated with broadcasts, and even boasts a wide stereo feel. In fact, even when mixed with the authentic official soundboard, “CHICAGO XXXIV: LIVE IN ’75,” it sounds every bit as good. This perfect sound, another pinnacle live album that’s not quite the same as the official release, depicts a show centered around the epic “Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon” but that’s not quite the same as the official “LIVE IN ’75.” While the approximately 50-minute broadcast timeframe is far from a full show, it still showcases repertoire not included in “LIVE IN ’75.” Finally, let’s organize the comparisons. Ballet for a Girl in Bacannon, Make Me Smile, So Much To Say, So Much To Give, Anxiety’s Moment, West Virginia Fantasies, Colour My World, To Be Free, Now More Than Ever. Other tracks: Opening: Call On Me, Saturday In The Park (★), Beginnings. Closing: Just You ‘n’ Me, (I’ve Been) Searchin’ So Long, 25 Or 6 To 4, Feelin’ Stronger Every Day. Note: * indicates songs not included on the official “CHICAGO XXXIV: LIVE IN ’75.” While it may have ceded its throne to the official “LIVE IN ’75,” the Narrator FM soundboard has been a longtime ambassador of the “CHICAGO VIII Tour.” This is its pinnacle. This is another pinnacle live album, comparable in quality to the official release, yet offering a different, yet distinct, performance experience. This is a superb stereo soundboard recording of the April 13, 1975, New York City performance. This is a “fully official” quality CD from the latest radio broadcast master. Not only is the sound quality perfect, but the mix of each instrument is precise, with impeccable balance and stability. This is another pinnacle work that rivals the official “CHICAGO XXXIV: LIVE IN ’75.” Beacon Theatre, New York City, NY, USA 13th April 1975 STEREO SBD (49:21) 01 Call on Me 02 Saturday in the Park 03 Beginnings 04 Ballet for a Girl 05 Make Me Smile 06 So Much to Say, So Much to Give 07 Anxiety’s Moment 08 West Virginia Fantasies 09 Color My World 10 To Be Free 11 Now More than Ever 12 Just You ‘N’ Me 13 (I’ve Been) Searching So Long 14 25 or 6 to 4 15 Feelin’ Stronger Every Day STEREO SOUNDBOARD RECORDING Peter Cetera – Bass, Vocals Terry Kath – Guitar, Vocals Robert Lamm – Keyboards, Vocals Lee Loughnane – Trumpet, Vocals James Pankow – Trombone Walter Parazaider – Woodwinds Danny Seraphine – Drums Laudir de Oliveira – Percussion
