Description
The Montreal performance, also known for being featured on the official classic “TRIBUTE,” is now available as a complete soundboard album that lets you experience the full show! This work, of course, features a stereo soundboard recording of the “July 28, 1981 Montreal performance.” The Montreal performance soundboard, along with the Cleveland performance, is known as the source material for “TRIBUTE” and is a staple among classics, becoming a symbol of the Randy Rhoads era. However, until now, there has been no live album that allows you to experience the full show. This album quenches that thirst and fulfills the dreams of enthusiasts. To explain the details, let’s first take a look at the basics. This is a good opportunity to look back at the soundboard situation in Randy’s era. October 2, 1980: Southampton performance (5 official songs) 1981 {March: Daisley/Kerslake replaced by Sarzo/Aldridge} April 28: AFTER HOURS (4 TV broadcast songs) May 2: New York performance (1 official song) May 11: “DEFINITIVE TRIBUTE (Cleveland)” * July 28: Montreal performance ←★This work★ {December: Lindsay Bridgewater replaced by Don Airey} 1982 January 15: “BLOOMINGTON 1982” February 9: “DEFINITIVE KALAMAZOO 1982” {March 19: Randy Rhoads dies} The soundboard situation that became the source of TRIBUTE Here’s a list of soundboards from Randy’s time. Of these, the three performances that served as the basis for “TRIBUTE” were “Southampton Performance (probably) October 2, 1980,” “Cleveland Performance May 11, 1981,” and “Montreal Performance July 28, 1981.” This is a good opportunity to organize how they were used. “TRIBUTE” Analog A, B, C, Cleveland Performance: Most of the Show; Montreal Performance (this work): “Suicide Solution” and Guitar Solo; “TRIBUTE” Analog D Side: Southampton Performance: “Goodbye To Romance,” “No Bone Movies,” etc. “TRIBUTE” is a two-disc set, with the A, B, and C sides recreating the concerts of the time, and the D side featuring additional tracks that don’t overlap with the main program. This resulted in a flow that would never have happened in a live performance, such as a ballad after the encore. The main Cleveland performance is famous for its full FM broadcast soundboard, and “DEFINITIVE “DEFINITIVE TRIBUTE” and other recordings are very popular. On the other hand, only a few songs from “TRIBUTE” and singles have been found from the Southampton performance. The complete Montreal performance, organized with the best masters! Now, the main subject, the Montreal performance. In “TRIBUTE,” only “Suicide Solution” and a guitar solo were used, but all the songs were broadcast in small portions on FM, and have also become a staple in “DEFINITIVE TRIBUTE” and other recordings. However, FM broadcasts are only “small portions.” Many previously released groups have also been recorded in small portions as they were broadcast. *Note: Some say that the official “OZZY LIVE” is a Montreal performance, but “Suicide Solution” is from the “May 2nd New York performance,” and some songs, such as “Iron Man,” are performed differently from the broadcast version. It cannot be called a “full Montreal live album.” Even though there are all the songs, it’s hard to see the full picture of the disjointed show… This work is a complete solution to this situation. The previously scattered takes for each broadcast have been reordered to match the actual order of the songs, and the sounds of each take have been brought as close as possible before being connected. This work has been reconstructed into a seamless full live album of the Montreal performance. The recordings used were “THE KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR” broadcast on September 13, 1981, and “BEST OF THE BISCUIT” broadcast on May 2, 1982. While both are familiar broadcasts from the previously released group, the best masters of each have been carefully selected. The DJ parts have been removed as much as possible, making it the longest live album possible. Finally, let’s check the distribution. “THE KING BISCUIT FLOWER HOUR” broadcast: Early: I Don’t Know / Crazy Train / Believer / Mr. Crowley Late: Iron Man / Children of the Grave “BEST OF THE “BISCUIT” broadcast: Middle: Flying High Again / Revelation (Mother Earth) / Steal Away (The Night) / Drum solo / Suicide Solution (★) / Guitar solo (★) / End: Paranoid Another performance: Opening: Carl Orff “Carmina Burana” *Note: “★” indicates parts that were used in the official “TRIBUTE”. “Carmina Burana” which signals the start of the show While “Burana” is from a Cleveland performance, the essential parts are all from Montreal. While the performance is familiar, the way it seamlessly forms a full show without any sense of incongruity is truly impressive. Until now, the “true Tribute” has always referred to the Cleveland performance. This is the second full live album following that. This work itself is an official full soundboard from the Randy era, and also the final version of the classic Montreal performance soundboard. It’s the ultimate album that makes every enthusiast’s dream come true. This is a stereo soundboard recording of the “July 28, 1981 Montreal performance,” the source material for “Tribute.” This is a complete full live album, rearranging the classic FM broadcast in the exact order of the actual performance. Each take has been carefully tuned to match the sound as closely as possible, and DJing has been eliminated wherever possible. This is the final version of the Montreal performance soundboard, achieving the ultimate level of perfection as a seamless musical work.
