Description

Paul Bley, who is known for his great influence on Keith Jarrett and his contribution to the free jazz movement of the 1960s, welcomes Austrian saxophonist Wolfgang Puschnik to perform an aesthetic duet. This title allows you to listen to the finest performance in the highest quality sound. Wolfgang Puschnik was a founding member of the Vienna Arts Orchestra and performed with Hans Koller’s quartet “Air Mail” and “Saxophone” in the early 1980s. He is also known for having Carla Bley welcome him into her group in the mid-1980s. He has released eight solo albums. Now, this aesthetic duet live performance was held at the Jazz Festival held in Saalfelden, Austria in August 2001. The two performers’ sharp and thrilling improvisations cut through the quiet air, and Paul Bley’s famous piece “Ida Lupino” is also played. This is a great recording that all jazz fans, not to mention ECM fans, should listen to.
