Description

The Doobie Brothers in 1975, the biggest turning point of their career, was when Michael McDonald joined the band. This is a soundboard album that will let you experience the live performance of that turning point. This work was recorded at the Memphis performance on October 8, 1975. This is a stereo soundboard recording of that performance. McDonald participated as a substitute for Tom Johnston, who collapsed during the US tour. In other words, the “1975 US tour” is divided into before and after McDonald due to a slight difference in time, and the meaning changes completely. First of all, let’s take a look at the overview of their activities at that time and explore the position of this work.・January 16th – February 7th: Europe (14 shows) ・March 4th – April 8th: North America #1a (6 shows) {Michael McDonald participates} ・April 14th – 24th: North America #2b (10 shows) {“STAMPEDE” released on April 25th} ・April 25th – May 29th: North America #2c (20 shows) ・June 29th: Appearance on Day on the Green ・August 18th – November 1st: North America #2 (51 shows) ←★Here★ This is THE DOOBIE BROTHERS in 1975. “STAMPEDE” was completed in the fall of 1974, and they started a US tour before the album was released. However, after six shows, Tom dropped out due to a stomach ulcer. So they welcomed McDonald and successfully completed “North America #1”. The Memphis performance of this work was the 30th concert of the tour restart edition “North America # 2” with an additional off. This show was broadcast on WBCN’s famous program “King Biscuit Flower Hour” and is a classic among classics that has produced many existing groups. This work is also such a classic sound board, but it is the highest peak version that has been made into a CD from the best master that was recently released. In fact, the sound is completely official class. In the first place, “King Biscuit Flower Hour” is a famous program where excavated sound sources have been made official by various bands. There is no gap in the recording or mix, so it is naturally completely official class. It is drawn with such quality as the generous behavior of the “STAMPEDE” number. . . . Not. Let’s check out the slightly unexpected set contents here. Toulouse Street (2 songs), Jesus Is Just Alright, Rockin’ Down The Highway Captain and Me (4 songs), South City Midnight Lady, Long Train Runnin’, China Grove, Without You Doobie Heaven (3 songs), Road Angel, Eyes Of Silver, Black Water… and so on. There are no “STAMPEDE” numbers at all. A set that condenses and reduces the previous three albums. As you can see from the schedule above, it was about five and a half months after the album was released, and they had performed about 60 shows with McDonald, so it wasn’t due to a lack of rehearsal. It is probably edited to fit the broadcast time frame of about 50 minutes, but even so, there is no hit single “Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While)”… It’s a completely inexplicable selection. In any case, it must be a piece that allows you to enjoy the live performance just after getting McDonald with completely official quality. A turning point where they unexpectedly discovered a new world and were ignited by its possibilities. Stereo soundboard recording of the “October 8, 1975 Memphis performance”. This is the best CD version of the best master recently released on the popular FM broadcast of the famous program “King Biscuit Flower Hour”. With completely official quality, you can enjoy the stage right after Michael McDonald joined the band. Mid-South Coliseum, Memphis, TN, USA 8th October 1975 STEREO SBD UPGRADE (51:28) 01.
