Description

More than 10 years have passed since the Rolling Stones’ “A BIGGER BANG” tour. Since it was held in an era of abundant media, a considerable number of items have been produced in real time. It is easy to be mistaken into thinking that most of the live shows have been covered, but there are still many overlooked shows on the American tour, which has a large number of live shows. The 2005 and 2006 items that have been unearthed since the beginning of this year have been unearthed. One of them was “HOUSTON 2005”. This was a sound source that had been released as an item called “abiggerbangtourhouston05” on the label Check This Out! at the time, but it was a big blunder item in which the songs faded out. However, “HOUSTON 2005” was recorded in a version that had no such problems from the original sound source, making it a meaningful release that made enthusiasts aware of the great performances and great sound sources that were overlooked at the time. This is the first sound source to be released, and strangely enough, it is also related to “abiggerbangtourhouston05”. In addition to the main Houston performance, “abiggerbangtourhouston05” also had bonus tracks recorded as audience recordings, and several performances and shows that could only be heard there were recorded. One of them was the Toronto performance on September 26th. Only one song, “Dead Flowers”, was recorded here, but of course there is a full-length version of the sound source. In addition, the song recorded in the bonus was extremely cut before and after the performance began, and the atmosphere of the entire live performance was not felt at all. For that reason, just like in Houston, this will be a release that allows you to reconfirm the sound sources and performances of 2005 that have been overlooked until now. The audience recording that captured this Toronto performance, which will be released as a full-length version, has a unique sound quality. The sound image is very on, starting with Mick’s vocals, but the balance of the performance is like a dumpling. It may be said that the sound source does not reach the clarity in that respect. Despite the recording balance, the overall sound image is close, so at first glance it may seem like a leaked soundboard. Or would it be easier to understand if I were to compare it to a “warm texture IEM recording”? (laughs) “abiggerbangtourhouston05” recorded “Dead Flowers” from this source by equalizing it, but the processing emphasized the parts that originally picked up the “go” sound at a low level, and it changed to a state as if you were listening to the Stones’ performance in the street. This “go” low-frequency range can be called a chronic disease of this audience recording, but I came to the conclusion that it would be much easier to hear if I didn’t add equalization. It’s obvious if you compare it with the bonus of “abiggerbangtourhouston05”, but it’s suddenly easier to hear. Or rather, this is the original state. If there was any equalization done for this release, it was to adjust the high frequencies to ease the harshness. This is also clearly different from the bonus “abiggerbangtourhouston05”. In any case, it is true that the sound image is close, so it is very easy to listen to, and because of this, the Stones’ slow start, which is unique to the beginning of the “A BIGGER BANG” tour in September 2005, is captured in reality. Only Mick is in top form from the opening as usual, but the two guitarists seem to be slowly getting their hips up as if they are saying “Dokkoisho”. This is particularly noticeable in “Tumbling Dice”. In the interlude, Ronnie’s playing is not at all bright, and the dangerous scene where Mick is lured into making a mistake is unique to the first half of the tour. It is even more so when you compare it with the Memphis in December, which our store released, which is still fresh in our memory. Furthermore, in the bonus track “Dead Flowers,” Ronnie’s interlude was not so good, and it seemed as if he was the only one who was not running at the beginning of the day. However, after the next track “Bitch,” the band’s performance started to pick up steam, and they played a series of performances that were suddenly worth listening to. The sound image becomes a little flat on the B stage, but it’s interesting because it makes it feel like an audience recording. In addition, “Satisfaction” is played there, which is a development unique to the early part of the tour, but by this time, the first half is a wild and Stones-like performance that is unbelievable, so it’s very reliable. And as the live show moves towards the second half, “Out Of Control” is played, or the finale of the whole show is concluded with “It’s Only Rock’n Roll,” which is also unique to this time of year. In “Sympathy For The Devil,” Keith’s play burns up as the performance progresses, and at the end, he still can’t play enough! Even after the performance ended, he was still playing alone (let’s not just say that he got the ending wrong, lol), and the excitement of the live performance from the middle of the show seemed to predict that the performance would improve rapidly from October onwards. In addition, the sound quality with its unique flavor and unique listening ability is also a big attraction, and this time, the famous recording from 2005 that was buried will be released again!
