Description
In the first half of the 2010s, there was a troublesome trend centered in Europe of “distributing first-released music only as analog discs.” It would be a different story now that analog LPs have made a huge comeback, but back then they were used as a palliative means to prevent easy distribution to digital and the Internet. Regarding Floyd, there is a feeling that this method was used behind the scenes, and now that I think about it, there are many enthusiasts who remember that the outtake sound sources of “WISH YOU WERE HERE” and “ANIMALS” first appeared on the LP. The soundboard recording of the 1975 San Diego performance was released under such circumstances and can still only be heard on LP. In 2013, the album was released under the title “CALIFORNIA SOUNDBOARD” and was a huge shock to enthusiasts all over the world as it featured the “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON” set in excellent stereo sound quality. In the first place, the sound board from the 1975 American tour was a huge shock, but the person who released it must have been confident, as the back jacket said “A Top Quality Tape Recorded Directly From The Mixing Desk.” It was even credited. However, when I actually listened to it, I was even more shocked to find that it was a wonderful stereo soundboard recording that was different from a mixing desk, that is, a PA out soundboard. Not only is the performance balanced, but the chorus is beautifully separated in stereo. Above all, there was plenty of cheering, and it was clear that the sound source was recorded using multi-tracks for a normal live album. Indeed, it was precisely because it was such a shocking discovery that it was purposely released only on LP… Because of the shock, when it was released in 2013, a version that recorded the LP as it was on CD was released as SIGMA’s “SAN DIEGO 1975″. When it was released as an addition to the LP, the pitch, which was faster on the LP, had been adjusted and recorded, causing a huge response, with people saying, “This is an amazing sound source!” There was a precedent for the outtakes mentioned earlier, so we were just waiting to see how this sound source came out. However, even though nearly 10 years have passed since the release of the LP, the sound source in another format has not appeared at all. This release is based on “CALIFORNIA SOUNDBOARD Rev. A”, which was carefully traced by a dedicated enthusiast using the latest technology. The difference from the 2013 CD, which was simply a tracing of the LP, is obvious, and there is no scratch noise at all, making it hard to believe that it is based on an LP. Still, the sound quality itself has a wonderful upper feel. Since it is a leaked sound source that has not yet been final mastered, it is not even close to the official level of perfection, but rather, it is the best stereo sound board recording that has been recorded for 75 years while still retaining its roughness and rawness. The shock of being able to hear the tour still hasn’t faded. For this release, we have achieved a full-length version of the live performance by adopting the new song part in the first half of the live performance, where the sound board has not been leaked, from the same monaural audience recording as “SAN DIEGO 1975”. However, it is not a diversion from “SAN DIEGO 1975” released over 10 years ago, but a first generation copy released in 2013 by Mr. Neonknight, one of the leading figures in the Floyd rare sound source world. Upgrading is achieved by adopting . Even so, the impact of the 1975 tour that can be heard on the stereo sound board recording is too great. The floating feeling of the conventional Floyd-like sound that remained until the previous year has been wiped out, and the “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON” part is powerful, played with a hard and solid sound. The female chorus and the soulful singing voices of the two Blackberries flying from left and right are truly striking, and Roger’s presence of bass, which has excellent stability and runs freely. I was able to experience the stereo feeling of the performance with this tour’s excellent sound source, but it cannot compete with a stereo sound board where the expressive power of further details is outstanding. The last song on “CALIFORNIA SOUNDBOARD” that caused controversy was “Echoes,” which was only included on the first 100 copies. I thought it was a performance on the same day, but when I opened the lid, it was obvious that it was not a San Diego take. I realize that they were treated as if they were convinced that they knew this and only recorded it on the first disc. This take is presumed to be from the Denver or Tucson performance based on the process of elimination, but when the singing part began, Gilmore’s microphone was turned off, highlighting the fact that this was another incident not seen in San Diego. I am. Furthermore, thanks to the stereo soundboard recording, there was another effect that I fell in love with Rick’s singing voice, which I ended up singing alone for a little while. However, the last two songs of “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON” were overlooked even in “CALIFORNIA SOUNDBOARD” or the same sound source “Rev. A”. In fact, the soundboard of those two songs had been released many years ago. Such an old CD is “DESK TAPE – DARKSIDE II”. The main recording was the Vienna & Berlin soundboard from the 1977 Animals tour, and those parts were later diverted to the 1977 tour items, and the “Eclipse” included there. In recent years, it has been revealed that “Brain Damage” was actually 75 San Diego. In other words, if you divert this, you will be able to create the longest version of the San Diego sound board. This was a sound source that had been overlooked. In the first place, the leaked sound source is recorded from the end of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 6-9)”, but the longest recording of the vivid stereo sound board is still worth listening to. Still, enthusiasts will be satisfied with the content that you can enjoy the first half of the live performance while recording the audience. This is exactly what “Revised Edition” is suitable for.
