Description
Along with “COPENHAGEN 1967 3RD NIGHT”, the storyteller recording that conveyed the Syd Barrett era has reached its highest peak. The best version, which highly combines two masters, has been decided to be released on CD. This work is engraved with the “Rotterdam performance on November 13, 1967”. It is the legendary audience recording. When it comes to live performances in the Syd era, most of them are media records such as BBC. There are essentially only three long live recordings. The Stockholm performance, which was also talked about in “THE EARLY YEARS”, the famous “COPENHAGEN 1967 3RD NIGHT”, and this work. In particular, the latter two (Copenhagen / Rotterdam) have been widely known for a long time and are famous recordings that have become symbols of the Syd era. This is a good opportunity to see what the relationship between the three recordings is. Let’s take a bird’s-eye view of their activities at the time. 1967 January 5th – February 20th: UK #1 (21 shows) February 21st: Production of “The Piper at Dawn” begins February 24th – May 7th: UK #2 (49 shows) May 9th: Production of “Mystery” begins May 12th – 20th: UK #3 (5 shows) May 21st: “The Piper at Dawn” completed May 23rd – July 29th: UK #4 (42 shows) September 1st – October 28th: Europe #1 (27 shows) ←※COPENHAGEN 1967 and others ・November 4-12: North America (10 performances) ・November 13-December 22: Europe #2 (40 performances) ←★Here★●1968《January: David Gilmour joins》 ・January 12-20: UK #5 (5 performances)《Syd Barrett leaves》This is the journey from 1967, when they made their record debut, to Syd Barrett’s departure. Stockholm and Copenhagen were “Europe #1”, which was also their first overseas tour, but the Rotterdam performance of this work was about two months later. It was the first day of “Europe #2”, which came back from their first trip to the United States. Such a scene has long been known for its vintage audience recordings. This work is the same recording itself, but the sound is different from before. This version was produced and released by a person named Jimfisheye, and is a new, top-of-the-line album created by utilizing two of the best existing Marbal masters (2nd generation and 3rd generation, each of which is a different system but owned by neonknight). The method is also innovative. Usually, when combining two masters, the standard is to make up for recording gaps or connect parts in good condition, but in this case, the focus is on the “range” of the two masters. Analog dubbing deteriorates in different ways depending on the equipment and method, and there are cases where a certain “range” is spoiled. Therefore, Jimfisheye, who produced this work, analyzed the two masters for each band. He combined the “range” that remained more finely. Specifically, the foundation of this work is the “3rd generation”. He synchronized the “high range of the 2nd generation” with it. Of course, even if it is the same performance and recording, even a slight deviation will make the sound muddy and cause moiré. Jimfisheye has meticulously synchronized the music with the soulful work of “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, and the result is so natural that it is hard to believe that it is a combination of different masters. This new sound experience depicts the extremely precious live performance of the Syd era. All five songs are worth listening to, and the unreleased “Reaction in G” and “Scream Thy Last Scream” are of course valuable, and the original four members’ “Pow R Tock H”, “Sun Hymn”, and “Starry Sky Drive” are also delicious repertoires that could not be heard on “COPENHAGEN 1967 3RD NIGHT”. All of those songs… no, every note has the weight and reality that only the Syd era has. A live experience of the Syd Barrett era that anyone who loves British rock dreams of. This work is a document album in which PINK FLOYD researchers have used all their wisdom and passion to revive such an “unreachable site”. This is a piece that can be said to be the pinnacle of music archiving technology and sense cultivated over a long history. ★Floyd appeared on the third day of the four-day live event “Hippy Happy Fair”. The first release of an important live recording from an early period familiar to long-time fans! This live performance was released on a BULLDOG RECORDS record that was seen in the nostalgic CD wagon corner in the late ’80s. Speaking of Floyd’s earliest recordings, the top two are this BULLDOG RECORDS release of Rotterdam and the Copenhagen release from BLACK PANTHER, also well known for CD wagons, or rather, this was the only recording from ’67 in the past. Moreover, the sound quality was very poor, so it was only suitable for CD wagons. In recent years, research into the recordings has progressed and distribution has become more active as the recordings have been digitized. Thanks to the digital age, tape transfers with less deterioration due to copying have become possible, and the quality has improved to an extent that it is incomparable to before! This release is said to be a mix of two types of material, the 3rd Gen Raw transfer by neonknight and the 2nd Gen, which are considered to be the best at the moment, mixed by someone called Jimfisheye, and the sound quality is very easy to listen to. The vocals are far away, but that’s probably how the original sound was. It’s well-known that Syd Barrett’s vocals were barely audible, according to the book. This is the legendary audience recording of the “Rotterdam performance on November 13, 1967”, which symbolized the Syd Barrett era. This is the highest peak update using the two best existing Marbal masters, and is a masterpiece that synchronizes the “high range of the 2nd generation” with the “3rd generation” as the foundation. This is a cultural heritage album that allows you to enjoy the unreleased songs “Reaction in G” and “Scream Thy Last Scream”, as well as “Pow R. Tock H”, “Sun Hymn”, and “Starry Sky Drive” by the original four members.
