Description

This work was recorded on “July 12, 1996, Kawasaki Club Citta”. Previously, two types of recordings have appeared on the Uxbridge label, but among them, the original DAT of “KAWASAKI TAPES 1996/1997”, which became a hot topic for its high sound quality, is used again, and “SAPPORO 1996” is the “best of the 90’s”. Next, you can enjoy two major masters at once. The sound is truly amazing. While the Hokkaido 2CD had a special sound with an unusually direct feeling, “even the difference between the sound board and the audience is meaningless,” this is the super high-quality sound that is typical of the audience. Both can be said to have “surprising ultra-high sound quality!”, but the quality of “surprise” is different. “SAPPORO 1996” is an unknown surprise, “What is this!?”, and this is “This is amazing!”, and you can feel the true nature of the audience recording, and you will be surprised by the high quality. Because of the strong impact of “What is this!?”, it was decided that both would be released on CD. Of course, there’s no need to be surprised. The high sound quality of this work, which can be called the “royal road of the audience”, is also the best. The clarity of the musical tones is at an impeccable level, and on top of that, the hot atmosphere is amazing. Compared to Sapporo, the venue in Kawasaki was noticeably hotter, with Paul cheering as if to say, “I’ve been waiting for you!” for every single line (you can really hear that in front of “Muddy Water Blues”: lol). And that reaction makes Paul even more passionate, and his singing voice becomes even more “incandescent”. The obvious things such as “a live performance is created by the band and the audience together” are exchanged with passionate performances and enthusiasm that seem to be brought to light now. Also, perhaps because of the excitement, the number of songs played increased (slightly) from the Sapporo performance, including FREE’s “The Stealer” and “MUDDY WATER BLUES”‘s “Good Morning Little School Girl.” On the contrary, the new song “Over Loaded” at that time was cut, but it has a much stronger tone of “THE BEST OF PAUL RODGERS”. About 20 years have passed since the release of FREE/BAD COMPANY in the 1970s, and Paul has repeatedly visited Japan as a solo artist in 1993, 1996, and 1997. It was wonderful to see so many famous bands come to Japan, but it was this Kawasaki performance that focused only on “singer Paul Rodgers” and was filled with only the most gorgeous masterpieces. Although it was a period that did not attract much attention, it was a night that could be called the pinnacle of his career, and the enthusiasm that comes from witnessing it. It is a masterpiece of live recording that captures this with vivid and vivid audience sound. Please take this opportunity to experience the pinnacle of British blues rock that is only known to those in the know.
