We are very pleased to be able to release the best audience album produced by Wings’ 1976 Over America Tour. That was the Boston performance on May 22nd. Anyway, the sound is unbelievably good. The sound recorded using the first generation cassette Densuke SONY TC-152SD (overseas model of TC-2850SD) has an extremely clear sound image and clarity. Also, the freshness is amazing. If this sound source had been released in real time, it would have definitely been touted as a “sound board”. Originally, the Over America Tour was only at its peak, and the best audiences existed at key points. Fort Worth, Detroit, Toronto on the first day of the tour, and the LA Forum on the last day of the tour. Regarding LA Forum, it was recorded by Mike Millard, and it is expected that a master tape will appear in the future. However, this Boston is the best recording that reigns at the top among such high quality audience recordings. The sound is too good. That’s no wonder, this sound source was recorded by Stephen Hopkins. When it comes to Boston tapers, Hopkins is highly praised for its exceptional quality. For that reason, a number of items have been released when the original sound source has been distributed in the 21st century, but this time, the familiar Krw_co borrowed Hopkins’ master again and transferred it using the latest technology in 2019. Originally it was a sound source boasting shockingly high sound quality, but this version is suitable to be called the final definitive version. It was simply transferred from the master using the latest technology using Nakamichi’s cassette deck, and it was as if the dust that remained at the end of the extremely clear sound source had been removed. When this happens, it’s a perfect ultra-quality audience. For this reason, there was no need to add any equalization to this release. All I can say is that I adjusted the volume up and down that occurs in “Lady Madonna” to make it easier to listen to. On the other hand, it is no exaggeration to say that past items have been left unattended due to this problem, so it is no exaggeration to say that by adjusting this item, it has been promoted to a definitive decision board. Even so, I’m surprised that even though the performance is captured in a sound image that is on, the sense of realism is outstanding. Thanks to that, even the skirmishes of the surrounding audience that occurred in front of “Maybe I’m Amazed” were documented with clear sound quality (bitter smile), but this is a scene unique to American rock concerts in the 1970s. Hopkins, who was recording the scene while witnessing it, must have been scared inwardly. And of course the splendor of this sound source is not only the sound quality. The performance is also really wonderful, and it is full of the momentum unique to the Over America tour, which reached the peak of its popularity. Everyone seems to be really having fun playing, and I get the impression that Denny Lane in particular is hustling. He even sang a parody of the Beatles’ “I Want To Hold Your Hand” before starting his own “Time To Hide.” However, when Paul finishes the main part of the live with “Band On The Run”, he screams out his gratitude to the fans in Boston, and the “Hi, Hi, Hi” that follows from there is so high that it’s hilarious. There’s nothing better than this. What’s more, the songs “Live And Let Die” and “Picasso’s Last Words (Drink To Me)” from this day’s performance were later included in the live album “WINGS OVER AMERICA”, which shows how wonderful this day’s stage was. It tells a story. For the live album and movie “ROCK SHOW,” Denny and Linda McCartney’s backing vocals were rerecorded, but it is also a document that the harmony work from the actual live concert was recorded in the highest quality. It’s also very valuable. However, only on this day, the song “Soily” that closed the nightly show was not played (you can also hear the customer’s telephone being turned on), and a take from Fort Worth, the first day of the tour, was added as a bonus track. I’m doing it. This is also a stereo audience recording with great sound quality, so there is no discomfort at all. An ultra-high quality recording with a clear and freshness that easily surpasses Mike Millard’s recording on the last day of the tour at the LA Forum. This is the ultimate audience album that I want all rock fans to experience, not just enthusiasts, and even Beatles and Paul fans.
