Description
A recording that is like a mirror of an audience recording! From July to early December 1977, the final day of the world tour accompanying the “Ultimate” held on a large scale in North America and Europe, and the second day of the two-day Paris performance on December 6th, was recorded completely for about 2 hours with a high-quality audience recording of the highest level. This is an upper version of the sound source that was previously released by Amity under the title “Going For The Final”. The sound was good even though it was released before, but there was a lot of analog noise caused by the master, especially in the first half, and it was a sound source that felt “it’s a waste to have good sound”, but fortunately, this take does not have any such problems. Perhaps because the generation is young, the sound that had the impression of being packed with sound has been transformed into a natural sound that gives a sense of depth and spatiality. The elegant sound of the low range and the tight sound of the drum sound are overwhelming, and unbelievable high sound quality pops out everywhere. This is the final day of the memorable 1977 tour, and it is a concert that is attracting attention, but it will be released with the best sound quality that represents the European tour, which will be a very happy release for Yes fans. In the era of cassette recording, it is really wonderful to be able to record such a thick sound on this day, and it seems a lie that 10 years ago it was said that there was no good sound on the “ultimate” tour. After the opening song Parallels, John MCs, “Today is the last day of the long tour.” John’s vocals are so beautiful that it’s hard to believe it’s the last tour, and I think the sound is good, but the performance also sounds very good. There are parts where the vocals turn over in the latter half of the 5-minute mark of Close To The Edge, but the thick and powerful singing voice is overwhelming, and combined with the spectacular performance of the backing, you can immerse yourself in the most fascinating performance. The excellent separation of the sound expresses the playing of Alan and Chris’ rhythm section very clearly, and even when the sound is clogged, it does not become muddy at all. As mentioned above, the sound is “like a mirror of an audience recording” and is very wonderful. The next work “Tomato” may have been conscious of the New Wave trend, but it has shifted in the direction of slightly pop and easy-to-listen-to pieces, so this live performance is not only the last day of the “ultimate” tour, but also the last live performance in the true sense of the word, when the stage of the golden age lineup of the 1970s, symbolized by “Yes Songs”, was truly classic. There are some slightly compact songs that represent the album, Wonderous Stories and Going For The One, but the main focus of the live performance is still the large songs, and you can listen carefully to the dramatic, tense, and satisfying ensemble play throughout the entire live performance. The live arrangements of each person’s classic numbers from the early 1970s, such as Close To The Edge, are packed to the brim, and you can feel the “ultimate” aspect in every part. The set is familiar from the 1977 tour, but in the middle, a Tour Song and a 1 minute 30 second jam were played as a prelude to Going For The One, and Nous Sommes Du Soleil was sung at the beginning of the encore Starship Trooper, drawing cheers from the audience. In any case, the performance and sound quality are excellent enough to represent the tour, and as a long-awaited, imposing Yes title, it is sure to be a masterpiece that will impress fans at the end of the year. We promise you two hours of overwhelming emotion. Live at Pavillon De Paris, Paris, France 6th December 1977 TRULY AMAZING/PERFECT SOUND(UPGRADE) Disc 1(64:08) 1. Firebird Suite 2. Parallels 3.
