Description
After producing his second solo album “NORTHWINDS,” Coverdale gathered members to form a band, and by January 1978 the foundations of WHITESNAKE were laid. On March 2nd, they held their final rehearsal at the Lyceum in London, and on March 3rd, they finally made their stage debut as a band at Lincoln College. This title is a recording of the first live performance in London, two weeks later, at the sixth performance, with a decent audience recording for the time. The performance is still rough, as it was just after their debut, but it is full of energy and dynamism, and the opening song “Lady” realistically reproduces the raw sound and atmosphere. And in “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City,” the band boldly interweaves ad-libs at the end, making it a highlight along with the explosive “Mistreated.” Also, the recordings from the time of keyboardist Brian Johnston are rare, and you should check out how the band’s sound differs from that of the band after Jon Lord joined. Although it is not complete, the last medley of “Rock Me” and “Going Down” lasts about an hour, and the band’s oldest live performance is a must-have for fans who have not heard it. 1. Lady 2.
