“LIVE AID” is the biggest event of the 20th century…no, the biggest event in the history of human music. The best pro shot that vividly revives that day that colored the summer of 1985 has been decided to be released. This work is the first in which you can re-experience everything from the prime time opening scene to Bryan Ferry’s appearance around the time the date changes. We have introduced many professional shots of “LIVE AID” so far, but this work is different. This event was broadcast live all over the world, but this work is the Japanese broadcast version. This work is the first installment. However, it is not a complete broadcast. The main broadcast was a long one, lasting about 16 hours, but this work is a selection of only “Western music” from that time. CMs inserted directly into the show, chatting with talent in the station’s studio, Japanese musicians on stage, etc. are eliminated as much as possible (although you can see some members of the Heisei Board of Education). The scene where I thought at the time, “Okay, let’s show a live performance with outside sauce!” has been removed, and now we can look back on that hot day with only delicious scenes. [The first installment has a wonderful real-time feeling that progresses from the opening scene] The biggest point of this work is the reality of “July 13, 1985”, and the quality of depicting it is also excellent. As you know, “LIVE AID” is held simultaneously at two locations: “Wembley Stadium in the UK” and “JFK Stadium in the US”, and the event is broadcast live while being mixed up. Initially, it started at 12:00 noon in the UK, but at that time it started at 20:00 at night in Japan. In the list above, each show’s start time (Japan time). As you can see, this work includes everything from the opening scene to Bryan Ferry, who appeared late at night when the date changed. However, not all of them are live broadcasts from Britain and the United States; MEN AT WORK and B.B. King are satellite broadcasts from other countries, and Elvis Costello and FOUR TOPS seem to be recorded broadcasts, so the order has been changed. The real-time feel of STATUS QUO and BLACK SABBATH being broadcast during prime time brings back memories of summer 34 years ago, but the content is also unique to Nippon Broadcasting. Not only Billy Ocean and FOUR TOPS, but also each band / artist has a lot of famous songs that can not be seen on the official DVD, but even more, the live broadcast feeling at that time is irresistible. I still feel nostalgic about THE BOOMTOWN RATS’ “Drag Me Down” being mistaken for “Rat Trap” and ULTRAVOX’s stage being cut off in the middle of “One Small Day.” and Joan Baez, introduced by Jack Nicholson. “Good morning, everyone around the world,” he began, but although it was 9 a.m. at JFK Stadium, it was 10 p.m. in Japan. This feeling of satellite broadcasting brings back the excitement of experiencing the events of the century at the same time. Even when Joan Baez gave a long speech about the significance of the event, she translated it into Japanese without hesitation, as if she had a manuscript written in advance.
