Description
If you’re a fan of Eric Clapton or British rock, you’re probably familiar with the supergroup Blind Faith, which he formed in 1969. After Cream disbanded, the band was formed with three stars, including Ginger Baker and bassist Rick Gretsch, who was a member of the family along with Steve Winwood, who disbanded Traffic at the same time, but management and They were a legendary band that was flattered and used by the media, and Clapton lost motivation and disintegrated in midair, leaving only one album behind, in just seven months. This is a complete color recording of their debut concert held at London’s Hyde Park on June 7, 1969, where you can see their “moving” live stage appearance after such a short period of activity. It has been known for a long time that this concert was officially recorded on video, but the footage has never made it to the public, other than a few snippets shown in news footage. In 2005, 36 years later, a miraculous official DVD was released in Europe, and here in Japan, three years later, in 2008, I was finally able to watch it through satellite broadcasting. Let me briefly review the history of Blind Faith from its formation to its disintegration in mid-air: ・February to May 1969: Recording of Blind Faith’s debut album in London ・June 1969 7th: Blind Faith’s debut concert is held in Hyde Park, London.・June 12th to 19th, 1969: Scandinavian Tour ・July 11th to August 24th, 1969: United States Tour <<Meanwhile, August 1st, 1969: Album “BLIND FAITH” released> *US Tour After that, it disassembled in the air. The members never met face to face again. This concert was held at a time when the album had not yet been released. In other words, even though the concert was held when no one knew their songs (new songs), word of mouth spread that they were a super group, and it is said that an audience of 100,000 people gathered at Hyde Park. I am. This video captures the entirety of their debut stage. Fortunately, unlike the DVD released in Europe, the Japanese broadcast version was broadcast with Clapton’s live performance and 3 PV songs added as bonus footage. Of course, that part is also included in this record. The whole story of the legendary debut stage, Clapton and Winwood moving, Baker’s drum solo featured like a live performance from the Cream era, all of which are breathtaking historical images. Please note that Clapton does not have a smile on this stage. In a later interview, Clapton revealed that he was angry and depressed over Ginger’s use of heroin. He says he wasn’t satisfied with his own play either. On the album, Had To Cry Today, which had a novel twin lead guitar composition with Winwood, is played here with Winwood sitting on the organ for some reason. They probably weren’t ready to perform the new studio-recorded songs live (Can’t Find My Way Home is also arranged differently). This is a valuable video in every sense of the word, capturing a precarious moment for such a supergroup. Please also note that above Wynwood’s electric piano there is a model of the spaceship that the nude girl was holding on the only album cover (lol). This is a historical video that every rock fan should definitely watch. Live at Hyde Park, London, UK 7th June 1969 PRO-SHOT Broadcast Date: 19th January 2008(74:55) 1.
