Description
AEROSMITH’s first concert residency “DEUCES ARE WILD” was highly acclaimed. The live set is now available. There are two performances included in this work. This is the best audience recording of “December 1 + 4, 2019 Las Vegas Performance”. Many people may not be familiar with the term “concert residency,” but this is a format of shows that has become more common in recent years. A “concert tour” involves repeating performances and traveling, with the venue changing almost every night. It is called a “tour” because it moves like a “journey”. On the other hand, “Residency” means “living”. This style of performance is repeated at the same venue over and over again, with audiences traveling from far away. Pop singers have been performing frequently, mainly in Las Vegas, but in recent years it has expanded to include major rock bands that can attract large audiences. It has become popular as the “third entertainment style” after tours and festivals because there are no travel costs, and there is less fatigue and stress. This year, AEROSMITH will also take on this “concert residency” for the first time. This work is the latest live album that conveys the scene. First, let’s check the show’s position from the panoramic view of the residency “DEUCES ARE WILD”. 2019 April 6th-26th: Las Vegas #1 (9 performances) June 19th-July 9th: Las Vegas #2 (9 performances) July 19th: TWIN CITIES SUMMER JAM performance August 8th-13th: Oxon Hill (3 performances), August 16th + 18th: Atlantic City (2 performances), August 21st-29th: Springfield (4 performances), September 21st-October. 8th: Las Vegas #3 (8 performances) November 14th-December 4th: Las Vegas #4 (9 performances) ←★Coco★ January 29th-February 15th, 2020: Las Vegas #5 (8 performances) May 20th – June 4th: Las Vegas #6 (7 performances) This is the schedule announced so far. In North America, where residencies have become established, they are held at various venues, but their home is definitely Las Vegas. “DEUCES ARE WILD” is scheduled for 6 legs and 60 performances, and this work is the final two performances of “Las Vegas #4”. In other words, it is the last two performances of 2019, and it is a 4-disc set that vacuum-packs the latest live performances at the moment. This work, which packs two such performances, is also noteworthy for its quality. At our store, we introduced the masterpiece “NATIONAL HARBOR 2019” as the first report of “DEUCES ARE WILD”, but this work is also wonderful. What’s surprising is the tight core and clear clarity. Both performances are collections by the same recording artist, but I can’t feel the hall ringing anyway. Judging from the tone, I’m sure it will appeal to the audience, but when the exposed core is poured into the ear and there is no sense of distance, there is no muddiness or roundness caused by the ringing. It’s a line-like masterpiece recording so direct that you can even think of unnecessary meddling, such as, “Maybe it would be more beautiful if it had a little more ringing.” What is depicted with such a sound is the unmistakable “current AEROSMITH.” In the end, Joey Kramer, who injured his shoulder, did not return, and John Douglas sat on a stool until the end, but it was still two performances that were similar to the aforementioned “NATIONAL HARBOR 2019”. Let’s organize the contents here. 70’s numbers (7 songs)・AEROSMITH: Walkin’ The Dog (★)/Dream On・GET YOUR WINGS: Lord Of The Thighs (★)・TOYS IN THE ATTIC: Sweet Emotion/Toys in the Attic/Walk This Way/ Last Child since the 80’s (6 songs)・PERMANENT VACATION: Rag Doll・PUMP: What It Takes/Love in an Elevator・GET A GRIP: Cryin’/Livin’ on the Edge・NINE LIVES: Pink (★) Others (2 Song) ・Stop Messin’ Around (★) / Viva Las Vegas (★: Only on the last day) *Note: Songs marked with “★” are songs that could not be heard on “NATIONAL HARBOR 2019”. …and it looks like this. The sense of balance, which is half-concentrated with 70’s classics and special songs from the GEFFEN era, which was at its peak, is truly a masterpiece. Perhaps he has gotten used to the residency, which is different from his usual tours, and he is playing a lot of songs that cannot be heard on the first report “NATIONAL HARBOR 2019” (“Eat The Rich” was stopped because it was in Las Vegas, where there are many rich people) !?). In fact, although the gist of the show is very similar since it is only two consecutive performances, it is not exactly the same. Some of the famous songs were played for fun at the end of each song, and on the first day, Memphis Slim’s “Steppin’ Out,” the Beatles’ “Golden Slumbers,” and LED ZEPPELIN’s “Heartbreaker” appeared. On the second day, Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing,” JAY AND THE AMERICANS’ “She Cried,” and ZEP’s “Whole Lotta Love” will be featured. And even more than that is “Viva Las Vegas.” It’s a local song by Elvis Presley, and it’s not hard to imagine that it was played on the final day, but it’s an extremely rare song that you won’t find anywhere else throughout AEROSMITH’s career. You can also experience it with the best sound. “Concert Residency” is something you can’t hope to experience in Japan. This is a superb live set that conveys the scene in the highest quality. More than just an ordinary latest live album, this 4-disc set lets you listen to wonderful passionate performances that were made possible because there was no burden of travel.
