Description

The “Ronnie James Dio/Bill Ward” era created a historic masterpiece, but ended in a bubble on stage. Here is a masterpiece live album that allows you to fully experience the scene. This work is recorded from the “Seattle performance on July 19, 1980”. It is a full audience recording. As is widely known, Bill Ward disappeared in the middle of the “HEAVEN AND HELL Tour” and was replaced by Vinnie Appice. After that, Vinnie served as the drummer for the “DEHUMANIZER” era in 1992 and the HEAVEN & HELL project after 2006. When that happens, the “Ronnie/Bill” co-starring live is of interest. This work allows you to experience the full show on site. First of all, let’s check how long the “Ronnie/Bill” era was from the schedule at that time. 1980 {April 25th “HEAVEN AND HELL” released} April 17th – June 26th: Europe #1 (33 shows) ← ※ LONELY IS THE WORD July 5th – August 19th: North America #1a (25 shows) ← ★ HERE ★ {Bill disappeared → Vinnie joined} August 31st – November 11th: North America #1b (42 shows) November 16th – 29th: First visit to Japan / Australia (11 shows) 1981 January 18th – February 2nd: Europe #2 (13 shows) {November 4th “MOB RULES” released} November 15th – December 21st: North America #2 (28 shows) December 31st: Hammersmith show This is BLACK SABBATH in 1980 / 1981. Bill disappeared in the middle of “North America #1”, and the only times “5 members of HEAVEN AND HELL” were together were “Europe #1” and “North America #1a” at the beginning of the tour. The Seattle performance of this work is the 8th performance of “North America #1a”. Speaking of audience recordings in the Ronnie / Bill era, the masterpiece “LONELY IS THE WORD: THE LEGENDARY MASTER” reigns as a symbol, but this work is one month after that. Such shows are also known for the fact that famous recordings were left behind, and masterpieces such as “DANCE OF THE DEVIL” have been loved in the past. While such vintage boots were incomplete versions up to “Die Young”, this work is a complete version that fully records the show. Some collectors may think, “There was a complete version before, wasn’t there?”, but even if the existing ones were complete, the sound was (much) inferior to “DANCE OF THE DEVIL”. Unlike that, this work is a complete version by the master owned by the Nordic collector “Per-Erik”. This is actually a big deal. After all, “DANCE OF THE DEVIL” is a legendary recording of a sound that surpasses even “LONELY IS THE WORD”. The thick and meaty core is powerful, and there is no sense of distance in the vivid details in every corner. Since it is the complete version, it may take the “throne of the Ronnie / Bill era” instead of “LONELY IS THE WORD” (although I can’t say for sure because it is a rare song). There was only one thing that bothered me. That is “2nd or 3rd generation”. Certainly, if you listen to it with headphones, you can feel a little more hiss than “DANCE OF THE DEVIL”, and you can’t deny the existence of “sounds beyond this”. The sound of such a king is drawn to the precious Ronnie / Bill era full show. The set is familiar, but let’s organize it for now. Ozzy era (7 songs) Black Sabbath: N.I.B./Black Sabbath Paranoid: War Pigs/Iron Man/Paranoid Master of Reality: Sweet Leaf/Children Of The Grave Heaven & Hell (4 songs) Neon Knights/Children Of The Sea/Heaven And Hell/Die Young … and so on. The precious “Lonely Is the Word” was only “Europe #1”, so there are no rare songs, but the ensemble itself is rare. After all, what you hear is Bill’s drumming, and it’s interesting to see his personality and thoughts honestly expressed. To put it simply, he is losing motivation and is playing the new songs of “HEAVEN AND HELL” super simply. This is not a comparison with Vinnie, but a comparison with Bill’s own studio album. More to the point, in “LONELY IS THE WORD” (Europe #1), it was still powerful and had fills unique to live performances, but in this work, that has been drastically reduced. What’s even more interesting is that when it comes to the classics of the Ozzy era, the drumming is reminiscent of the 70s, with a wonderful sense of song. In other words, Bill’s disappearance was not due to technique or health, but only to motivation. Drumming that simply screams, “I want to go back to the 70s” and “I miss Ozzy.” It’s rare to see an honest person whose true feelings are expressed in their performance so far. Not only is it valuable, but the Ronnie/Bill era, where you can see the back of their psychology by comparing each performance. This is a masterpiece recording that allows you to enjoy the full show. Full audience recording of the “Seattle performance on July 19, 1980”. This is the complete version of the legendary recording that has been loved for masterpieces such as “DANCE OF THE DEVIL”. Moreover, the previous complete version had (quite) inferior sound, but this work is a master owned by the Nordic collector “Per-Erik” and has excellent sound. The thick and powerful core is powerful, and the vivid details in every corner have no sense of distance. This is a live album that allows you to experience the precious full show of Bill Ward and Ronnie, not Vinnie Appice.
