Description

This work is Ray Gillan SABBATH’s best and strongest live album. It is the superb FM sound source of “April 18, 1986: San Antonio performance”. The quality is usually called “completely official class”. This “usually” is the point. In fact, the official deluxe edition of “SEVENTH STAR” includes a bonus sound board sound source of the Hammersmith performance. In other words, there is really an official version, but the quality of this work is far, far higher than that official version! In other words, it is a sound board that is “beyond the official”. Moreover, this work is the best and longest version of that San Antonio sound board. In fact, there are two types of this FM broadcast. One is the famous program “IN CONCERT” broadcast version of WESTWOOD ONE series, and the other is the “HIGH VOLTAGE” broadcast version. Not only are the lengths of these two programs different, but the songs are also different. What has long been known is the seven-song version of the long-length “IN CONCERT”. However, the “HIGH VOLTAGE” broadcast was short, but “The Mob Rules”, which was not included in “IN CONCERT”, was broadcast. This is where this work comes in. Based on the best master of the long-length “IN CONCERT” broadcast, “The Mob Rules” that was missing was added. It is a single album with the longest eight-song version. The editing is also meticulous. For example, there are previous releases that have been edited in a similar way, but from the ending of “The Mob Rules” to Ray Gillan’s MC at the beginning of the next song “Danger Zone”, it was cut by about 5 seconds from the actual interval between songs. However, this work records everything without losing these about 5 seconds. In total, it is about 10 seconds longer than the previous releases of the same type. Of course, the sound quality is also a strength of Master Direct, with almost no petit noise or scratch noise, and the difference in texture between the masters that was previously noticed is minimal. You can listen to it in a very natural and flowing manner. The result is a wonderful live album of Ray’s era! Glenn Hughes’ originals were “Danger Zone” and “Heart Like A Wheel” on Seventh Star, but Ray’s singing voice fits perfectly. In fact, it fits him better than Glenn’s, as if Ray was the original. On the other hand, the repertoire from Ronnie’s era, such as “The Mob Rules” and “Neon Knights,” is also amazing. Even Glenn and Ian Gillan couldn’t sing these songs, but Ray handled them with ease, bringing out their metallic charm with his high notes. And Ray is amazing because he even includes the famous songs from Ozzy’s era. He sings songs such as “War Pigs,” “Symptom Of The Universe,” a medley of “Sweet Leaf,” and “Black Sabbath,” but while Ronnie and Tony Martin changed them into something different with their fists, Ray follows the original with his high tones. On top of that, his high tones that stretch endlessly are far better than Ozzy’s. There is a slight American lightness to it, so it cannot be said that “Ray is the best!”, but it is a wonderful vocalization that does not destroy the image of the song and sings even more skillfully. This work is full of the charm of the famous singer: Ray Gillan. Why did they not use this work for the deluxe edition of “SEVENTH STAR”? It is a superb soundboard album that is so wonderful that it makes you feel regretful. Live at Convention Center Arena, San Antonio, Texas, USA 18th April 1986 STEREO SBD (40:35) 1. The Mob Rules 2.
