Description
TRAFFIC is a legendary band that left a huge footprint in the early days of British rock in the 1960s. Introducing the miraculous best stereo soundboard album that conveys the very early days. What is recorded in this work is “Stockholm performance on September 12, 1967”. At the time, TRAFFIC had released two singles, “Paper Sun (released in May 1967)” and “Hole in My Shoe (released in August 1967),” but their debut album “MR. FANTASY” was still being recorded. It is not completed. It was just the beginning. Of course, most of their activities at that time were in the UK, but there was an exceptional overseas performance in Sweden (it is said that there were only two performances). This work is a very valuable record of that. And this show is also a classic. Due to the FM broadcast, a number of existing groups were born from the air check. It has been loved by fans for many years as a secret record of British rock, as it allows you to listen to the very early days of the legendary band. This work is the highest peak of that legendary FM broadcast sound source. Unlike many air checks, it is digitized directly from the local radio station’s Reel Master. It is a definitive record that conveys the very sound that was heard on the stage at that time to the present day without going through spatial radio waves. In fact, the sound of this work is overwhelming. Due to the characteristics of the broadcast, you don’t feel much spread, but since Jim Cavaldi’s bass drum can be heard from the left channel, there is no doubt that it is recorded in stereo. More than that, the freshness is amazing. Since it is a master direct, there are of course no dubbing marks, and because it does not go through radio waves, the noiseless luster and stability are ultimate. That is why it can be archived as it is as an official CD…or should I say, it is an exquisite sound that I would like you to do. The reason this feeling is especially strong is because the performance itself is so wonderful. The members are, of course, those four members of “MR. FANTASY”. The set includes the previously released “Paper Sun” and “Hole In My Shoe,” as well as “Smiling Phases,” which was the B-side of the single. In addition, three songs from their debut album, which was in production, were played: “Giving To You,” “Coloured Rain,” and “Dear Mr. Fantasy.” Among these original songs, the highlight is “Feelin’ Good,” a cover song of the musical “THE ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT: THE SMELL OF THE CROWD.” Fillmore’s live take was also included in the 3rd album “LAST EXIT”, but at this point it has already become a part of the repertoire, and you can listen to a passionate performance that lasts about 10 minutes. And that performance is the essence of early TRAFFIC. While it is psychedelic, it also has a lot of jazz flavor, and the improvisation is endless. The musical elements of Steve Winwood and Dave Mason are mixed beautifully, and Chris Wood adds avant-garde saxophone and beautiful flute to the mix. In “Smiling Phases”, Mason’s sitar even appears, creating a sound world that can only be achieved by TRAFFIC. This versatile and supple rock. This is 1967. It’s the sound of a time when people were excited by the appearance of Jimi Hendrix and CREAM, but there was no release of “DISRAELI GEARS” or “AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE” yet. It is a superb live album of TRAFFIC in its early days, but at the same time it is also the very breath of Britain, which was running towards the 1970s with all its flowers. This is the highest version of such a legendary sound board, and for some reason, it is a world cultural heritage-level piece that has not been preserved by the official site.
