Description
The masterpiece compilation CD “HIDDEN TREASURE” (currently sold out and out of print), which contains TOTO’s amazing high-quality unreleased studio takes in chronological order, is now available with a new jacket. This is an ultra-high quality title that was highly praised by fans and media at the time of its release and is a must-listen for fans. First of all, the studio session of David Paich, Jeff Porcaro, and Bobby Kimball, which was held before the creation of the first album, decorates the beginning. The performance of the very early unit TOTO, full of sound quality and rawness, is a must-listen for all TOTO fans. The subsequent studio demos for “ISOLATION,” “FAHRENHEIT,” and “THE SEVENTH ONE” at the time of album creation are full of raw power because they are unfinished, and they are also worth listening to from beginning to end. The parade of TOTO demo tracks that caught the attention of fans in the mid-1980s is a great listen even if you listen to it now. Jeff Porcaro’s vivid and powerful drumming that can be heard on each track, excluding the home demo, is a must-listen. The last track includes three additional songs from Steve Lukather’s personal studio demos made during the production of “THE SEVENTH ONE.” Introducing highly recommended titles that are a must-listen for fans. (Explanation for each song) 1-3. First of all, the studio session demo from the recording of the first album is recorded with the highest sound quality. With Jeff’s drums in the background, David Paich plays a piano riff that is thought to be the prototype of the first song, and then the three of them play the unreleased song Hey Little Girl, which is familiar from live performances, with Bobby Kimball included. Play it! This vivid performance is a must-see for fans! Bobby’s wonderful vocals shine in the moist unreleased ballad that follows. 4. Next, a home demo of Angel Don’t Cry from 1984’s “ISOLATION” with a song by David Paich’s typing and keyboard overdubbing is included. 5. This is a basic one-shot recording of the masterpiece TILL THE END, which opened the 1986 album “FAHRENHEIT,” starting with Jeff’s count of “One, two!”. The piano and drums are mainly played, and Lukather’s guitar is used to add some flavor. It fades out on the album, but here it is played until the ending. The play is vivid, the sound quality is the best, and it is a very rewarding take to listen to. 6. This is probably the prototype of Stop Loving You from “THE SEVENTH ONE”, and it’s a pleasant take with Jeff’s powerful drums and David’s piano riff. You can feel that he is playing while trying to develop the song from now on. This is a demo take of Somewhere Tonight recorded on 7 “FAHRENHEIT” with vocals by David, Jeff, bassist Mike and new vocalist Joseph Williams. The performance is completely different from the official take, and the take is very long and satisfying to listen to. 8. A basic track of Can’t Stand It Any Longer from “THE SEVENTH ONE” featuring piano, drums, and percussionist. Normal bands create basic tracks using drums and bass, but creating songs using piano and drums is typical of TOTO and is very interesting. 9. is an unreleased song written by Lukather for “THE SEVENTH ONE” or for his first solo. Since the lyrics have not been decided yet, Lukather sings the melody, “Lalala.” The structure is already complete, and it’s a great song with a pretty pop melody. There is no guitar solo, and that part is only the backing. From beginning to end, you can hear the sound of scratching the microphone, so you can tell that this take is not a line recording, but a recording of the speaker output sound. 10. Demo take of Anna from Seventh One released in 1988. It includes vocals, but of course it’s a different take from the official one. This is a lively version without much piano or guitar overlay. 11. This song was included in Lukather’s first solo album “LUKATHER” released in 1989. This is a version without overdubs of guitar or keyboard, the song is different from the official one, and the content of the solo in the middle is completely different, making it a very interesting take.
