Description
Todd Rundgren is coming to Japan for the first time in four years. The latest original recording is perfect for preparation. This work includes the “April 6, 2019 London performance”. This is a masterpiece audience recording. Last year, he toured North America for the first time in 32 years with the restarted UTOPIA, but this year he is only solo. In order to know the countdown to his visit to Japan, let’s first check the show’s position from his recent situation. ・February 11th + 13th: ON THE BLUE CRUISE (2 performances) ・March 17th + 21st: North America #1 (2 performances) ・April 3rd + 6th: Europe (2 performances) ←★Here★ ・April 10th – May 13th: North America #2 (20 performances) ・May 22nd + 23rd: Japan (2 performances) ・May 27th – June 27th: North America #3 (21 performances) This is the schedule that has been announced so far. Most of the time is spent on the North American tour, but in between, two shows were held in Japan and Europe. Currently, “North America #2” is in full swing, and after that, it is finally scheduled to visit Japan. This work was one of the “European” shows, which had only two performances. This work, which recorded such a show, is a truly exquisite audience recording. It was recorded by a famous recording artist representing the UK. In our shop, he is a familiar master of the “British master”, a person who combines a realistic atmosphere using DAT with modern clarity. He has produced countless masterpieces so far, but this work is outstandingly clear even in such a master collection. Although it is not a close contact that can be mistaken for a sound board, the core that reaches straight is very on and robust, the airiness is crystal clear and the details are super delicate. I said earlier that it is “not like a sound board”, but the customer recording is only felt in the extension of the singing voice that dominates the venue and the sound of the drums, and it is a clear sound with a vividness that is far from the audience. The show depicted by that sound is a gorgeous rush of 70’s masterpieces. Although the upcoming Japan tour has been announced as “the culmination of a music career spanning about 50 years,” only four of the 28 songs on this album are from the 80’s onwards. The rest are a wealth of golden masterpieces from “NAZZ” to “HERMIT OF MINK HOLLOW.” Here, let’s organize the selections from each album as a way to prepare in advance. ●“NAZZ (2 songs)”・Open My Eyes, Hello it’s Me ●“RUNT (1 song)”・We Gotta Get You A Woman ●“SOMETHING/ANYTHING? (4 songs)”・I Saw The Light, It Wouldn’t Have Made Any Difference, Black Maria, Couldn’t I Just Tell You ●“A WIZARD, A TRUE STAR (3 songs)”・Sometimes I Don’t Know What To Feel, I Don’t Want To Tie You Down, Just One Victory ●“TODD (3 songs)”・I Think You Know, An Elpee’s Worth Of Toons, A Dream Goes On Forever ●“INITIATION (5 songs)”・The Death Of Rock n Roll, Real Man, Fair Warning, Eastern Intrigue, Born To Synthesize ●“FAITHFUL (2 songs)”・Love Of The Common Man, Black And White ●“HERMIT OF MINK HOLLOW (4 songs)”・Too Far Gone, Can We Still Be Friends, Determination, Fade Away ●After the 80s (4 songs) ・Compassion, Kindness, The Individualist, Buffalo Grass … and so on. You can see how luxurious the show is. Moreover, the flow is also delicious. The show is divided into two parts, and the first part is a sense of history that roughly follows history. Although the opening is “I Think You Know”, after that it is chronological. “Open My Eyes” and “Hello it’s Me” from “NAZZ (1968)” are performed, and then “We Gotta Get You A Woman” from “RUNT (1970)”. Then it snowballs into three consecutive “SOMETHING/ANYTHING? (1972)”. In fact, although it does not strictly follow chronological order, it is roughly a big swell from the early period to the mid-70s. The second part is a complete turn from there. This album also features the golden songs of the 70s, but in between are representative songs from the 90s and later, such as “The Individualist,” “Kindness,” and “Buffalo Grass.” It gives a sense of the breadth of their career, which has always produced masterpieces while moving back and forth between eras. This is the latest live album that summarizes their half-century career and allows you to enjoy a large number of masterpieces from the 70s. The performance in Japan may not be exactly like this album, but the greatness of the show is clearly conveyed. This is a live recording of an original recording that allows you to enjoy the subtleties and excitement with the best sound. This is a two-disc set that is a masterpiece that can be used as a preparation for the performance in Japan, or as a music album to enjoy good songs and good performances with the best sound.
