Description

What is recorded in this work is “June 2, 1986 Hammersmith Odeon performance”. This is the FM sound board sound source. At our store, we have introduced masterpieces by “Crazy S.” such as “DEFINITIVE SHEFFIELD 1986” and “SEVENTH ZONE.” In the main commentary, we listed the dates of the entire “SEVENTH STAR Tour”, so let’s narrow it down to the UK leg and organize the collection.・May 21st: “DEFINITIVE SHEFFIELD 1986”・May 22nd: Liverpool performance・May 24th: Manchester performance ・May 25th: Birmingham performance ・May 26th: Bristol performance ・May 27th “SEVENTH ZONE” (Leicester performance) ・May 29th: Edinburgh performance ・May 30th : Newcastle performance, June 1st: Hammersmith performance, June 2nd: Hammersmith performance ←★This work★, June 3rd: Pool performance, June 4th: Nottingham performance, 12 performances in total. As the title suggests, the 2CD was the final performance, but this work is a live album from two days before. This show is also known for being broadcast on FM, and the traditional title “RAY RULES” has reigned as a long-standing standard. It was later included in the bonus disc of the “SEVENTH STAR” deluxe edition, and has become a representative sound source of the Ray era, with Tony Iommi himself saying, “We were able to embody Ray’s footsteps.” This work is also the same FM broadcast as the official one, but it is not a copy or remaster of the official product. It is the 1st Gene Cassette that was discovered in recent years. It is a master that I have previously introduced as part of the 3-disc set “HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1986”, and its sound is definitely the best ever. Nowadays, I think the official “SEVENTH STAR” Deluxe Edition should be compared, but it’s much more natural than the official one, and the sound is natural and the pitch is accurate…or should I say, the Deluxe Edition doesn’t have that terrible sound? So, was it really okay to go official? The question comes back to me once again. It’s definitely better than the old “RAY RULES”, and Iommi may not know about other recordings, but… If you are a core collector, you know that the FM album “RAY OF THE BLACK LIGHT” from the San Antonio performance has a sound more suitable for the official one, and to be honest, this work has not surpassed it. However, it is definitely the best ever for Hammersmith SBD, and this work is the best soundboard for “Seventh Star”, “Die Young”, “N.I.B.”, and “Paranoid” that could not be heard even on that masterpiece FM. It is a live album where you can enjoy the finest “Ray era” that even Iommi does not know. The highest peak of the sound board representing the official Ray era. In fact, the 2CD, which is supposed to be an Odins recording, is superior not only in length but also in quality, but even so, there is no way to miss listening to the official surpassing master.
