Description

SANTANA in the early 2000s, who was enjoying their heyday with the consecutive albums “SUPERNATURAL” and “SHAMAN” reaching number one in the US. This work is the world’s first audience album that contains their live in Japan. This work contains the performance of “November 11, 2003: Nippon Budokan”. This is the 12th performance in Japan that was realized while the album “SHAMAN” was a big hit. First, let’s organize the schedule at that time. ・November 6: Osaka Festival Hall ・November 7: Nagoya Century Hall ・November 8: Osaka Namba Hatch ・November 10: Nippon Budokan ・November 11: Nippon Budokan [This work] A total of five performances. During the “SUPERNATURAL” era in 2000, there was one performance at Nippon Budokan, but this time it was a magnificent two-day performance at Nippon Budokan. This work is the final day of that. The biggest point of this work is the sound that is the best. The masterpiece “BUDOKAN 2000”, a feast of SANTANA and Eric Clapton released at the same time this week, was also extremely high quality, but this work is just as amazing. The thick and meaty musical tones are detailed down to each note, and it’s like a sound board. On top of that, the slightly wrapped venue acoustics give the feeling of an octagonal space, but it’s like an invisible aura emanating from the “core of the musical tones”, and it never hides the details of the performance. It’s so intense and clear that it’s hard to believe it’s the Nippon Budokan, but that’s to be expected. This work is the work of the same recordist as “BUDOKAN 2000”. This person is a master who has been producing famous recordings for many years, mainly in the 1980s. He has worked on many of our works, including recent releases such as David Bowie’s “OUTSIDE OF BUDOKAN 1996” and “BUDOKAN 1978”, and Page & Plant’s “TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT: ORIGINAL DAT MASTER”, which are his Budokan works. If you have heard even one of these, you will realize how well this master knows the Nippon Budokan. This week’s release of “BUDOKAN 2000” and this work are masterpieces that reign at the top of the master’s collection. The show depicted with such a sound is also amazing. “BUDOKAN 2000” was a passionate performance that rode the momentum of “SUPERNATURAL”, which became a historic hit, and that momentum continues in this work. They also performed four new songs from “SHAMAN,” which also reached number one in the US, “Aye Aye Aye,” “Victory Is Won,” “Foo Foo,” and “Novus,” but they also performed a wide range of representative songs, not just new songs. Moreover, the band that played them is the 10 core members of “SHAMAN” plus Myron Dove. This is similar to the members who came to Japan in 2000, but it is even larger and includes the master drummer Dennis Chambers. The mood of the heyday of their great success around the world and the skills of the masters combine to create a big, dynamic, yet organically intertwined performance that is superb. Even in the vast rock world, it is hard to think of an ensemble like this. This is a classic work, in contrast to “BUDOKAN 2000,” which features a miraculous feast with Eric Clapton. Despite the differences, it is a sister work filled with the same Nippon Budokan, the same recording artist, the same final day, and above all, the mood of the great prime common to the series “SUPERNATURAL” and “SHAMAN”. Even in the entire history of SANTANA’s visit to Japan, it is a masterpiece of a live album overflowing with special sound and performance.
