Description

Two major heavy metal singers, Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Halford. Two charismatic musicians born in the industrial city of Birmingham who have conquered the world with their heavy metal music. Introducing a superb live album in which these two men stand side by side, carrying their own names. JUDAS PRIEST is currently visiting Japan, and Ozzy’s last performance in Japan is scheduled for March next year. Although it is possible to see both males in just a few months, there have been some shows in history where they have been witnessed consecutively in just one night. This work is one of them. This is the best audience recording of “December 3, 2010 East Rutherford Performance”. Speaking of 2010, Ozzy released “SCREAM” solo, and Rob also released “MADE OF METAL”. The tour featured concerts for the most part. Both men came to Japan for LOUD PARK10, but their appearances were one day apart. On the other hand, this work is truly a series of consecutive appearances on the same day. It is a 3-disc set that completely records the whole story. This work that recorded such a show is the best audience recording. There are a number of recordings made in 2010 by both Ozzy and Rob, but they have been praised as “tour best!” by both enthusiasts. Moreover, it is a wonderful masterpiece with a sense of unity that was not simply recorded on the same day, but by the same recording artist. In fact, the sound flowing from this work is extremely neat. Although it is not so close that it is said to be “just like a sound board”, even the atmosphere is beautiful. All the instruments are delicate down to the single note, and the vocals are clear down to every single word of the lyrics. The background is a heavy metal sound with a large number of sounds, but it is a masterpiece recording that is neatly separated and does not get lost in the harsh performance. In fact, the original recording had a slightly more subdued sound than HALFORD’s Ozzy version (the sound output was limited due to the undercard!?), but this work is unified in mastering. The completeness of this three-disc live album, in which the two heroes collide, has been further enhanced. [Rob pursued metal more freely than PRIEST] The sound depicted is the cutting edge of Ryoyu, a show that embodies the ideals of heavy metal. Actually, this is the most important thing. Both Ozzy and Rob have released studio works at their old club BLACK SABBATH/JUDAS PRIEST after this work, but all of them respected tradition. On the other hand, “SCREAM” challenges new frontiers with the addition of the new talent Gus G, and “MADE OF METAL” is also an ambitious work that pursues the ideals of metal without hesitating to deviate from the framework of PRIEST. Both men can fully enjoy the show that brings their fresh sensation to the stage. In fact, HALFORD is the pinnacle of melodic power metal. PRIEST’s repertoire is limited to covers such as “The Green Manalishi,” “Diamonds And Rust,” and “Jawbreaker,” and the rest are HALFORD’s originals and FIGHT. In particular, “Fire And Ice” is full of exhilaration, and “Thunder And Lighting” has a melody that burns your heart. Furthermore, the catchy chorus of “Made Of Metal” and the majestic “Like There’s No Tomorrow” are also powerful. PRIEST’s latest work “FIREPOWER” was also wonderful, but its source lies in 2010’s HALFORD rather than the 80’s. The pure metal Shangri-La blooms all at once, as if to prove this through sound. [Ozzy opens a new chapter with Gus G] Ozzy, who was able to open for HALFORD, is also at the cutting edge of metal. The new songs are limited to “Let Me Hear You Scream” and most of them are greatest hits that are close to the current “NO MORE TOURS”, but the point is the performance. A modern-day guitar hero: Gus G’s virtuosity is on full display. Its sharpness is exquisite. In the album “SCREAM”, it seemed like he was conscious of Zakk Wylde, but the difference is clear in his past repertoire. He doesn’t focus on heaviness as much as Zack, but rather shines with sharp edges reminiscent of Jake E. Lee. Moreover, perhaps because of his youth or because it was his first tour, his energy is amazing, as if to say, “Listen to my abilities!” Ozzy, who seems to have been aroused by the performance, is also barking loudly. Ozzy could have continued with Zack, but he wanted a fresh feeling by cutting off his ally. The effect is fully utilized, and it is the freshest since the 90’s. On top of that, the key has not been dropped as much as the later BLACK SABBATH reorganization and the current “NO MORE TOURS”, and the sound proves that this tour was the one where Ozzy’s active feeling shined. Furthermore, I am happy to have a complete recording of the full scale show. During the Gas G era, there are professional shots from BIZZCON in 2009 and OZZFEST UK in 2010, but there is plenty of repertoire that cannot be heard there. Not only Sabbath’s “N.I.B.,” “Rat Salad,” and “Into The Void,” but also Jake’s “Shot In The Dark” and “Killer Of Giants,” and Zack’s “Road To Nowhere,” “Fire In The Sky,” and “No More.” Tears,” “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” and other classic songs from the past are revived as sharp, upgraded versions of Gus G. Also, the member introductions are a bit interesting. Actually, this day is Ozzy’s 62nd birthday, and a grand birthday song will be held. After introducing everyone as usual, what about the staff? appears and asks the audience to sing along. It was all good until Adam Wakeman played the intro on a beautiful piano, but the staff member who was leading the song was surprisingly tone-deaf. Even Adam can’t keep up with the pitch and stops playing…you can experience such a funny scene. Due to Glenn Tipton’s illness, Rob Halford was forced to carry the golden sign of JUDAS PRIEST, and Ozzy Osbourne departed for his final tour with his ally Zack. We may never hear Ryoyu’s new solo work again. I may never pursue new music again. Although the East Rutherford performance of this work was eight years ago, it is also a live album that records the last appearance of both men moving forward, not a summary of the past. The two who created “heavy metal” from Birmingham and were called the Gods and Godfathers. Its latest form. Please enjoy to your heart’s content the best sound with a sense of unity.
