Description
METALLICA during the Dave Mustaine era was the strongest band in the history of heavy metal. A major definitive edition that preserves the soundboard live performance in the highest quality has been born! There are three types of records engraved on this work. This is a compilation of two soundboards left during the Mustaine era and the legendary demo “POWER METAL” in the highest quality. All of them are super-famous recordings that are essential to talking about METALLICA before their debut. Let’s introduce each one individually. [Main: Old Waldorf performance soundboard (8 songs)] The worst official distribution version First up is the only long soundboard recording in the Mustaine era, “October 18, 1982 Old Waldorf performance”. It has long been known as the only long soundboard of METALLICA before their debut, and is now officially distributed on livemetallica.com. It is a classic among classics even in the Mustaine era. Of course, the official version is the definitive version…or so you might think, but in fact it was not. It’s a bit complicated, so let me explain step by step. This soundboard was first made official in 2004. With the launch of livemetallica.com, vintage recordings were made available for free as “Vault” as part of fan service. This was one of them. Although it was a bootleg mastered sound source and a compressed mp3 sound source, it was widely loved by fans around the world because it was free. This state continued for a long time, but a big change occurred in 2019. “Vault” became a paid service, and at the same time, uncompressed Flac sound sources also began to be distributed. Collectors around the world thought that this official Flac version was the definitive version… but in fact it was terrible. It was a complete copy of an old bootleg. The mastering and track division were carefully (?) distributed as it was, even with a crazy pitch (strictly speaking, the sound pressure was raised just a little). The previous free mp3 version was also a boot source, but it was mastered to a certain extent, and above all, the pitch was corrected. Collectors around the world are also criticizing, saying, “It’s too sloppy” and “The mp3 version was still better.” This work will clear up the frustration of the official version, which is the “true best version” that goes beyond the official version. It is a piece that has been polished from the best existing masters and permanently preserved with the highest quality in history. First of all, the selection of the original master is thorough. It is basically the same lineage as the official one, but the young gene master who is closer to the original is carefully selected. Currently, various versions are in disarray, but the “most original / most unprocessed” master is used. The sound that was created by making the most of the sound of such a natural master and polishing it with meticulous mastering is… the best ever. Of course, the pitch is accurate, but even more than that, the sound itself is amazing. The official Flac version feels like the sound pressure of the fluffy original sound has been forcibly increased, and only the bass drum explodes. The twins were also mixed up and it was a bit of a dumpling. In comparison, this work has a clear outline. The bass drum is powerful, but it is beautiful and powerful without exploding, and the high notes of the guitar are also beautifully clear. Although it is originally a mono recording, you can still fully enjoy the beautiful separation that is unique to soundboards. [Two delicious bonuses for collections] Bonus: Whiskey a Go-Go performance soundboard (1 song) The Old Waldorf performance has been known as the “only soundboard in the Mustaine era”, but in fact, another one was discovered later. That was the “August 4, 1982 Whiskey a Go-Go performance”. It is only one song, “No Remorse”, but the close contact without audience noise even surpasses the Old Waldorf SBD. It was a super-excellent soundboard that was distributed as a studio demo in some places. Of course, this work is the highest peak version and will be permanently preserved. It is one that completes the “Mustaine era soundboard”. And the sound is also the definitive version. Currently, when you try to listen to this sound source, it is only a distorted sound that has been compressed into mp3 during distribution, but this work is different. It was reprinted from the original excavation bootleg from the 90s, when there was no compression technology, and mastered in a direction that brings it closer to the main performance at Old Waldorf. We also pursued the perfection as a musical work. Bonus: Legendary demo “POWER METAL (4 songs)” The last one included in this work is the legendary demo “POWER METAL”. When it comes to demos from the Mustaine era, “NO LIFE TIL’ LEATHER” and “MEGAFORCE DEMO” are famous, but this can be called one of the three major demos along with them. The first two types are included in our “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER: DEFINITIVE EDITION”, and with this work, “POWER METAL” will also be permanently preserved. The content is truly legendary. Up until then (March 1982) most of METALLICA’s demos were practice scenes, but this demo (April 1982) shows their rapid growth. Although the guitar solos and detailed arrangements are a bit rough, the attention to overdubs makes this demo close to “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”. It is no exaggeration to say that this demo is the foundation of METALLICA. This is the definitive edition that completes METALLICA’s soundboard live performances from the Mustaine era, and even includes a legendary demo as a bonus. This is truly the live version of “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER: DEFINITIVE EDITION”. This is the complete soundboard live performance from the Dave Mustaine era. This is the highest quality version of the “October 18, 1982 The Old Waldorf performance / August 4, 1982 Whiskey A Go-Go performance”. Unlike the official Flac version of livemetallica.com, which was only a copy of an old bootleg, the sound, which has been meticulously mastered with the best master, exceeds the official version, and the contours are clear and clear. The bass drum is powerful, but also has a beautiful and powerful sound that does not explode, and the high notes of the guitar can be heard beautifully. This is the definitive version with the addition of the legendary demo “POWER METAL” as a bonus.
