Beatles/Recording Sessions 1961-1962

Coltturkey’s “COMPLETE RECORDING SESSIONS” includes not only the post-debut session recordings that will be released this time, but also the pre-debut recordings. However, there are no studio recordings of the session stage before The Beatles’ debut (naturally, since they were amateurs), and even Coltturkey’s work makes it seem more like a collection of pre-debut recordings than a session. In addition, the recordings with Tony Sheridan, who was The Beatles’ first official recording experience, were performed by them as a backing band, which makes it undeniable that they are a bit of a niche material. Also, the beginning of this disc starts with two songs from acetates recorded with the Quarrymen, but these have not only just been included in “LAST LACQUERS,” but are also recordings that fit the concept of that disc, so they are cut here. Different language versions of the intro to “My Bonnie” are placed at the beginning of each disc. And since the contents are divided into two parts, the recordings with Tony Sheridan and the Decca Audition, it can be said that this is a compilation of recordings from before The Beatles’ debut, and can be enjoyed easily. Among them, the Decca Audition is an entry point to rare recordings of The Beatles, and many people, even those who are not enthusiasts, have heard it. On the other hand, the Tony Sheridan recording is a unique center mix version made for a fan release called “KICKS KUDOS AND CASH”, and it contains a sophisticated finish in which John’s singing voice, which was shifted to the left in the regular stereo mix of Sheridan and “Ain’t She Sweet”, sounds in the center. If you listen with headphones, the effect is obvious, and many people may hear it for the first time on this CD. In any case, many of the recordings are not mainly about The Beatles, so in that respect it may be aimed at core enthusiasts, but this will also be very useful as a culmination of the recordings before their debut.
