Description

From MOTLEY CRUE’s most glamorous and energetic “THEATER OF PAIN” tour, the Chicago, Illinois performance on November 1, 1985 will be released as a 2-disc set that is a must-see for fans! In this work, we directly use the original cassette master by the famous taper, who left many definitive records such as IRON MAIDEN’s “SLAVERY MASTER” and METALLICA’s “THE ECSTASY OF ARAGON.” MOTLEY CRUE at its peak, with an audience source of ultra-high sound quality that even overwhelms the soundboard… no, L.A. Metal itself will be experienced directly into the listener’s body! Even before MOTLEY CRUE made their major debut, they were a standout in the Los Angeles club scene. As soon as “TOO FAST FOR LOVE” was released in earnest in 1982, it immediately sold 100,000 copies (and that was only through word of mouth from fans!). There were many twists and turns, such as being removed from the professional KISS opening act due to his extremely untracked rock’n’roll life, but his live performances captivated the youth of the time. A symbol of this is the “U.S. Festival” in which they performed in May 1983. Their fresh and poisonous performance was bold enough to take on European giants such as OZZY OSBOURNE, JUDAS PRIEST, and SCORPIONS, and did not take a step back (particularly the story with Ozzy and them is a story), and in a sense, it was head-turning. It had a presence that even surpassed the liner VAN HALEN. The band’s second album, “SHOUT AT THE DEVIL,” released in September, gave a direct feel of that momentum. The following year, in 1984, they toured in support of Ozzy, and both the band and album became big hits. Together with RATT and others, they became the embodiment of “L.A. Metal” and became a driving force behind the popularity of heavy metal in America. The pitfall that awaited the climax was the Vince Neil accident that occurred in December of the same year. At this time, the entire band was in a state of disrepair due to drugs and alcohol. Although the situation belied their glamorous appearance, they overcame this predicament and released their masterpiece “THEATER OF PAIN” in June 1985. The same work, which reached number 6 in the United States, made its debut in Japan in July. A large-scale US tour began in August, and the band’s famous ballad “Home Sweet Home” became a huge hit, marking a major step up for the band. 1985 can be said to be a particularly important period in the history of MOTLEY CRUE. This work includes MOTLEY CRUE’s November 1st live performance at Chicago’s “Rosemont Horizon” from the extremely important “THEATER OF PAIN” American tour, with a superlative sound that will leave everyone who listened to it stunned. ! The audience sound is truly overwhelming, making you wonder, “What kind of equipment do I need to use to record something like this?” For about 90 minutes, listeners will enjoy MOTLEY CRUE’s richly colored metal! The greatness of this work is obvious the moment you play the disc and the opening song “In The Beginning” pops out! The venue is buzzing with excitement, and the realistic and natural sense of presence will thrill listeners. It’s a moment that makes you feel the excitement of the L.A. metal movement that was all the rage! From the first song “Looks That Kill” onwards, which reproduces the pyro explosion with a realistic (yet not harsh) sound, in addition to the realistic feeling, the ease of listening to the performance and the direct feeling are unparalleled! All of the musical sounds are as satisfying as a line recording! Mick’s guitar, which allows you to listen to Vince’s smooth and energetic vocals, riffs, and solos with stable play, all have an outstanding presence. Furthermore, Tommy & Nicky’s tight play that overwhelms the audience with a strong rhythm has the outline and clarity that you can hear it right in front of your eyes. Everything is a special recording that makes you think, “Isn’t it a recording by a related party?” The set list is evenly selected from 1st to 3rd. The aforementioned “Looks That Kill” has plenty of dynamism, and “Use It Or Lose It” has a sense of speed that runs through it, and you can listen to each wonderful play. “Shout At The Devil” gets the entire venue involved and is truly a party! However, what really catches the eye is the number of newly released “THEATER OF PAIN” numbers. Starting with “Fight For Your Rights,” the famous songs “Home Sweet Home” and “Keep Your Eye On The Money” are effectively featured mixed in with the 1st and 2nd numbers. Among them, I want you to listen to “Home Sweet Home.” I don’t remember a take of the same song recorded by an audience in such good condition. Even if you’re not an avid fanatic, you’ll find yourself listening to it! In addition to these standard songs, you can also enjoy songs such as “Louder Than Hell” and “City Boy Blues” that will no longer be played on later tours, with the highest quality sound and listenability. The drum solo in the middle of the live performance is also worth listening to. Not only the drum sound, but also the call and response between Tommy and the audience is recorded with a powerful sound. The sound image is full of three-dimensionality, making it seem like a set rising vertically. In the second half of the live, “Smokin’ In The Boys Room”, “Helter Skelter”, and “Jailhouse Rock” exploded with their typical wild rock’n’roll! MOTLEY CRUE, the “darlings of L.A. metal,” can deliver a stage that is filled with peak energy and excitement from start to finish until the very end! It’s really unfortunate that the last song “Jailhouse Rock” fades out just before the end, but the number of performances you can hear here and the excitement of the audience shows just how great a live band MOTLEY CRUE was in 1985. It speaks volumes! In this work, you can enjoy the live performance of MOTLEY CRUE, which was at its peak, in the highest sound quality with a perfect sense of scale. Live sources from the same period as this work include “WELCOME TO THE THEATER OF PAIN” and “SMOKING HELL” recorded by Crazy S. However, this work, which is a complete package of not only the performances and musical sounds, but also the “enthusiasm of the times,” is a recording that rivals or even surpasses those. There may be many people who say they don’t normally listen to MOTLEY CRUE (not only live shows, but even studio albums), or who shy away from L.A. metal because they think it’s a little… However, I would like to recommend this work to such people.
