Description
A precious live album that allows you to experience 100% of the Dave Mustaine era METALLICA has been released. A two-disc set that will complete your collection has been decided. This work is recorded from two performances in San Francisco. This is a two-disc set that couples audience recordings of the “September 18, 1982 Stone performance” and the “November 29, 1982 Old Waldorf performance”. Eight live records have been unearthed from the Mustaine era METALLICA, and our shop is also popular with definitive editions such as “THE OLD WALDORF 1982: 40th Anniversary Edition” and the “LEGENDARY QUARTET” series. Let’s organize our collection here to see what position this work will hold. 1982 *August 4th “THE OLD WALDORF 1982 (1 song)” September 18th: Performance at The Stone ←★DISC 1 of this work★ *October 18th “THE OLD WALDORF 1982 (8 songs)” November 29th: Performance at Old Waldorf ←★DISC 2 of this work★ {December 10th: McGovney leaves the band → December 28th: Cliff joins} ●1983 *March 5th “LEGENDARY QUARTET: FIRST & LAST” March 19th “LEGENDARY QUARTET: 2ND GIG VIDEO” April 8th “LEGENDARY QUARTET: 3RD GIG” April 9th ”LEGENDARY QUARTET: FIRST & LAST” {April 11th: Dave Mustaine fired} *Note: * indicates soundboard recordings. The “・” marks are audience recordings/videos. A total of eight performances. Four types of recordings were left in the Ron McGovney and Cliff Burton eras, and after Cliff joined, they were compiled into the “LEGENDARY QUARTET” series. And during the McGovney era before Cliff joined, “THE OLD WALDORF 1982: 40th Anniversary Edition” released two soundboards, and this work is a compilation of two audience recordings (by the way, there is a sound source that is circulating under the name “November 30th”, but the contents are “November 29th”). This work is also a burning, scorching live album. Unlike a soundboard, it is an audience sound that emphasizes reality, but the sense of realism is amazing. After all, this is the scene where thrash metal was born. Even the members of SLAYER and ANTHRAX said that they decided to play fast metal after seeing METALLICA, and you can experience that very moment. Of course, there is no point in having a fuzzy or blurry sound, but there is no need to worry about that with this album. There is no denying the roughness, but the core is thick and powerful, and the rush is also intense. It is a power audience where every single riff is powerful and reaches your ears. In fact, both recordings have been introduced under gift titles in the past, but this work has been further polished with meticulous mastering. It is the best version that has updated the highest peak. Moreover, DISC 2 is METALLICA’s first official live album. Like the legendary “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”, it was released as a fan club cassette with artwork and is an official item from the amateur era that also appears in the classic book “Heavy Metal Revolution” (by the way, there is a boot that complements “Hit The Lights”, which is missing the beginning, on a different day, but this work’s motto is “faithful to the original”). Such a real sound depicts a violent thrash with an initial impulse. The sets are slightly different in the two performances, so let’s organize them here. Kill ‘Em All – 2 shows: Hit The Lights/The Mechanix/Phantom Lord/Jump In The Fire/Motorbreath/No Remorse/Seek & Destroy/Metal Militia – DISC 2 only: Whiplash (★) Cover – 2 shows: Am I Evil? (★) – DISC 1 only: The Prince (★) *Note: ★ marks are songs that cannot be heard on the soundboard album “THE OLD WALDORF 1982: 40th Anniversary Edition”. …And so it goes. At that time, METALLICA had already released “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”, and the live performance, driven by their initial impulse but with the dignity of a semi-professional, was full of power. Especially strong is “Whiplash” on DISC 2. It is a song that cannot be heard even on the masterpiece “THE OLD WALDORF 1982”, and this is the oldest “Whiplash” in existence. And it was recorded on November 29, 1982, just before Ron McGovney left the band, and the opening act for that day was EXODUS, led by Kirk Hammett. McGovney recalled the day, saying, “I still remember it well. It was pouring rain that day, and Cliff was standing in the rain, all dressed in denim. So I asked Cliff, ‘Do you want me to give you a ride home?’ I felt sorry for him. Maybe that was a sign… The next day (November 30), we played at Mabuhay Gardens, and that was the deciding factor, the last concert with METALLICA.” It was the dawn of the era when the band grew day by day, and historic hits were born one after another. This album is imbued with the process of the formation of the music genre “thrash metal” (not only METALLICA and MEGADETH), and the scene where the talent that repainted “heavy metal” itself was cultivated. This work is a convenient two-disc set to complete the precious Mustaine era, but more than that, it is a document album that allows you to experience the scene that any metal fan would envy 100% in real life. A must-listen album that will make you a “witness of 1982”. A real audience recording set of the Mustaine era “September 18, 1982 Stone performance / November 29, 1982 Old Waldorf performance”. The thick and powerful core roars with a strong rushing force, and each riff is powerful and reaches your ears. In particular, DISC 2 is METALLICA’s first official live album released by the fan club, and you can enjoy the oldest “Whiplash” before “MEGAFORCE DEMO”. This is a live album that any metal fan would envy, offering a 100% realistic experience of the birth of thrash metal.
