Description

The very early METALLICA with Dave Mustaine, who can be said to be the “ultimate metal band”. We are happy to announce the release of one piece that will make the demo collection perfect! When METALLICA’s early demos are organized, they can be broadly divided into the following three types. [Garage Demo] Practice and composition rehearsal recorded in the garage (March-April 1982) [Studio Demo] “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER (July 1982)” and “MEGAFORCE DEMO (March 1983) )” [Live Demo] Only “LIVE METAL UP YOUR ASS (November 1982)” Even though this work is called a demo, it is a [Live Demo] that is often overlooked. Even though it is called a live performance, it is not a hidden recording boot of the audience. Just like “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER,” it was released as a fan club cassette with artwork, and is an official item from the amateur era that also appears in the famous book “Heavy Metal Revolution.” By adding this work to “NO LIFE ‘TIL MEGAFORCE” & “McGOVNEY’S GARAGE 1982″, it will be complete for the first time!! When it comes to live performances from the Mustaine era, there is a soundboard sound source (this work and Although it was a live performance at the same Old Waldorf, the date was about one month different (October 18th), which is famous, but this was “METALLICA’s first live album”. Not only is this a valuable collection, but the music contained therein is also extremely wonderful. Although it does not seem to be a line recording, it is a little different from the sound you imagine when you hear the so-called “audience recording”, and it is a direct sound that firmly captures the musical sounds of everyone. It is a convincing live album that the band itself recorded it as a demo. In the first half, there is a bit of noise, but it gradually subsides, and in the second half you can immerse yourself in the hot metal. By the way, there is also a boot version that supplements “Hit The Lights”, which is missing the beginning, but this work has the motto of “faithful to the original”. At that time, METALLICA had already released “NO LIFE ‘TIL LEATHER”, and although they were driven by their initial impulse, they had acquired the dignity of a semi-professional, and their live performance was full of power. Especially when it comes to how cool “Whiplash” is, this is the 4th time that day! Ron McGoverney said, “Every time I played that song, I got chills,” and it was truly the ultimate thrash metal! I don’t know the date this song was written, but as of October 18th, when it was recorded on the soundboard, it had never been played, and what you can hear here is the earliest existing version of “Whiplash.” And to be able to listen to it without being disturbed by the cheers at all… This work was recorded on “November 29, 1982″, just before Ron McGoverney left the group, and Cliff Burton joined the following December. Moreover, EXODUS, led by Kirk Hammett, served as the opening act on this day. Looking back on the day, McGoverney says: “I still remember it clearly. It was pouring heavily that day, and Cliff was standing there in the rain (after the show), all clad in denim. So I said to Cliff, “I’m going to take the car home.” Shall I give you a ride?” I felt sorry for him.Maybe that was a premonition… “Garden”, and that was the decisive moment, the last concert with METALLICA.” Day by day, historical masterpieces were being written, and unknown heroes were intertwined. It was a series of turning points where my destiny changed day by day. What was happening at that time and what kind of music was being played? A valuable piece that conveys the “raw METALLICA” that sounded in those early days. Would you like to become a “1982 Experiencer” too? (55:06) 1. Hit The Lights 2. The Mechanics 3. Phantom Lord 4.
