Description
This is a great deal that allows you to get all the official rare tracks from the era when they were calling themselves “intellectual thrash”. This work contains 12 treasure tracks. It can be divided into four parts, so let’s introduce each one individually. KILLING IS MY BUSINESS era (1 song, 2 types) First up is “These Boots” from their debut album “KILLING IS MY BUSINESS… AND BUSINESS IS GOOD!” The 1987 re-recorded version was available on the main press CD, but this album includes the original 1985 version and the 2002 remastered reissue. The former is especially valuable. After the release, Nancy Sinatra complained about the vulgar lyrics, so they had to be removed from the album, and the original version with 8 songs included became a premium version at once. Some people may have been looking at the original version for tens of thousands of yen in the 90s with their fingers in their mouths. Of course, this work also reproduces the original release version losslessly from CD, not LP. The 2002 remastered reissue includes a version where the problematic alternate lyrics are erased with a beep. Although it is a bold and violent treatment, it is full of irony and a take where Mustaine’s rebellious spirit explodes. Live recordings from the single (2 songs) Next up are two live tracks from the single “Wake Up Dead”. Until the Cleveland performance was made official on the 25th anniversary edition of “PEACE SELLS”, it was also the only official live performance from the “Chris Poland / Gar Samuelson era”. Also, the detailed date of the live performance is not credited on the official version, but the true identity is “Hammersmith Odeon performance on March 6, 1987”. Yes, you can enjoy the complete version of this show on the masterpiece “DEFINITIVE HAMMERSMITH 1987”. Five tracks from the 3rd album “SO FAR, SO GOOD… SO WHAT!” from the SO FAR, SO GODD era (4 songs, 5 types) are included. Four tracks are from the “Paul Lanni Mix” that was also included in the 2004 remaster, but the most valuable one is “In My Darkest Hour (O.S.T. Version)”. This was only included in the soundtrack of the movie “The Metal Years”. It is a long version with a guitar intro that is not included in the album version, although it is not well known. Guest appearances in other bands (3 songs) The last section is three songs in which Mustaine participated in other bands. First, “White Rabbit” by power metal band SANCTUARY. It is a cover of Jefferson Airplane’s song from the 1987 album “Refuge Denied” that Mustaine produced, and he also participated as a lead guitarist and screamer. Next are “License To Kill” and “Chain Gang Woman” by MALICE. This is the band of Jeff Reynolds, who was briefly in MEGADETH, and Mustaine and Ellefson cover two songs on the 1987 album “LICENSE TO KILL” with shouted choruses by Mustaine and Ellefson. This is a treasure trove of 12 tracks, about 55 minutes long, including rare versions that are unlikely to be reissued now, blind spot soundtracks, and songs with guest appearances. As expected, it does not include anything from “THE FINAL KILL”, which is still fresh in our memory, but it covers almost all of the other early rare tracks.
