Description

From the UK tour that took place from the end of 1972 to January of the following year, a monaural audience recording of the live performance at Sheffield City Hall on January 2, 1973 was recorded. According to records, while Robert and Bonham were traveling to the venue, their car broke down and they were forced to hitchhike in the rain, which caused Robert to catch a cold. In the end, the performances the day after and the day after the main performance were both cancelled, which shows that Robert was not feeling well, but as overseas enthusiasts have pointed out, the other three members except Robert were doing well. Overall, it can be said to be a high-grade show. In particular, Jimmy’s solo in the song stands out, and you can listen to his wonderful play in various places. In Dazed And Confused, the band will listen to the development mainly consisting of longer jams than usual. The band improvises endlessly, including some improvisational riffs that I’ve never heard before, but one theory is that they played longer in consideration of Robert’s poor health. (Unfortunately the first half was cut at 7:06) Jimmy’s performances of Since I’ve Been Loving You and Stairway To Heaven were wonderful, and the performances of Over The Hills And Far Away and The Song Remains The Same were reviewed overseas as being very good. I am. To be honest, this is not a recording that I can recommend for beginners, but since there is little distortion in the sound and the sound image itself is stable, I think it is a sound source that can be said to be “no problem” for enthusiasts. However, it is unfortunate that there are cuts and noises in the song due to the master, and The Rain Song is cut out, and the song is cut out at the end of Whole Lotta Love, and the rest is not recorded. However, this take, where you can listen to the first live show in 1973 for 1 hour and 50 minutes, is a must-listen for enthusiasts. Live at City Hall, Sheffield, UK 2nd January 1973 Disc 1(48:11) 1.
