Description
This work was recorded on July 5, 1980. It was a performance at Hempstead on the west side of Long Island. First, let’s check the position from the schedule of the legendary heavy metal tour. March 7-April 1: UK #1 (21 performances) {April 14th “BRITISH STEEL” released} April 12-28: Europe (13 performances) May 25-August 3: North America (39 performances) ←★Here★ August 16th + 23rd: UK #2 + Germany (2 performances) This is the whole picture of “BRITISH STEEL TOUR 1980”. The Hempstead performance of this work is the 26th concert. This show has been broadcast on FM and has long reigned as a classic. It has produced many pre-releases such as “BRITISH STEELER”. This work is a CD version of the “1st Gene Copy from Reel to Reel”, which is known as the best version of such a famous broadcast. The sound is a wild, special-grade stereo soundboard. It doesn’t reach the “exceeding the official” main press CD, but the taste is different, so it may not be worth comparing. If the main press CD is a sharp and tight “razor sound”, this work should be called a violent “hard iron sound”. It’s a powerful sound that hits you right in front of your eyes and overpowers you with force. What’s even more pleasing is that it’s a valuable full set recording. Let’s organize the soundboard circumstances of this tour for a moment. ・April 25th Paris performance [9 songs] ・June 25th Denver performance ・July 5th Hempstead performance [This work] ・August 3rd Syracuse performance [12 songs] This is the currently known soundboard of “BRITISH STEEL TOUR 1980”. Of the four types, the Paris and Syracuse performances are only recordings with many cuts, and the sound is about three levels lower. To be honest, the audience recording is better. You will understand how decisive this set is even with a few soundboards. “BRITISH STEEL TOUR 1980” declared to the whole world, “This is heavy metal music!” This is your chance to collect two of those apex soundboard records at once. At the moment of the birth of “metal different from hard rock”, please engrave both of them into your soul. Live at Calderone Concert Hall, Hempstead, NY. USA 5th July 1980 STEREO SBD (74:11) 1.
