Description

The latest definitive edition of the legendary album “GET BACK” that has been a hot topic is finally here! Two years ago, when “GET BACK COMPLETE EDITION”, a compilation of different versions of the Beatles’ unreleased albums, was released, I said, “I don’t think the album itself will ever be officially released.” As you know, the album will finally be officially released this month. I never thought that day would come. Maniacs were wondering if the day has come when the “GET BACK” item, which has been released countless times on LP and CD, will no longer be used, but it seems that it will be released. It is a “mixture of the 1969 version and the ’70 version,” and what upset mania all over the world was the fact that when “For You Blue” was distributed as a pre-release preview, it was the ’70 version mix. Isn’t this a situation that is likely to happen in an official setting? However, this was not the end of the story, and when it was finally released, the Japanese version included the same song as the 1969 mix. However, there are some overseas versions and LP versions that are the same as the 1970 version, so it seems that it is not easy to do. At least “For You Blue”, which had the biggest mix difference between the 1969 and 1970 versions, was recorded correctly on the Japanese version, which is a blessing in disguise. Furthermore, there were many signs that multiple sources had been spliced together, such as sudden hiss noises during chatter between songs. Due to this situation, the various “GET BACK” items, which were thought to be halved in value after this release, have ironically been able to survive. At least this official version was released as a more or less a compromise between the 1969 and 1970 versions, so items that complete each era’s edition will have value on their own. The perfect item for this current situation is the “GET BACK COMPLETE EDITION” released in 2019, and it is an item that is needed now. However, this title is sold out. However, given the current situation, there is no way that this masterpiece, which is the culmination of “GET BACK”, would be unavailable…so we have decided to re-release it! This is the culmination of “GET BACK”, which was compiled over four discs two years ago, but of course it is not just a reissue, but the content has been revised in light of the current situation. First of all, for the first one, we narrowed down the content to only the acetate recorded on January 30th that was included in the main recording, and included the acetate part that compiled the oldies jam called “Beatles Sunday” that was recorded as a bonus. cut. Therefore, Glyn Johns compiled the album on January 26th and 27th, and only included the so-called “Get Back Mark 1″, which he created after the rooftop concert on the 30th. This later became the basis for the LP items in the “KUM BACK” direction, and the amazing finish that beautifully removed the noise inherent in acetate is still alive and well this time. This will be the best source for Mark 1 forever. In this re-release, the second disc is the one that has undergone the most changes in content. Last time, we included “O.P.D.,” which is said to be the Beatles’ earliest underground LP, but since the beginning of this year, new items that include the same LP have appeared, so this time we will record the same LP. Instead of recording it, we created a version that reproduces the contents of the acetate before completion of “GET BACK”, which is thought to be the basis of the same LP. Speaking of “O.P.D.”, it is known among enthusiasts that “Dig It” is not included in each “KUM BACK” item and has a longer recording time than the later completed version “GET BACK”. However, the acetate was made in early May 1969. At this point, the content was almost close to the completed version of “GET BACK”, but one of the parts that was missing was the long “Dig It”. The other thing is that the scene after finishing “Get Back” is also recorded for a long time. Unfortunately, the actual acetate made by Johns in early May, just before completion, has not been excavated. Also, “O.P.D.” had a major drawback in that it only contained the left channel sound of the original stereo mix. Therefore, the part of Dig It, which was only included on the same disc, was made from the acetate of “Beatles Sunday”, the intro of Get Back was made from the acetate of Mark 1, and the chat part after the performance of Get Back, which was still insufficient, was made from the movie “LET IT BE”. ” (or “GET BACK,” which will be released next month) This is an unprecedented and innovative way to restore Get Back Mark 2, which does not have the drawback of missing one channel, by patching from the monaural so-called Nagra sound source recorded by the filming team of “GET BACK,” which will be released next month. Summarized by concept. In other words, it is a complete reproduction of the acetate that became the basis of “O.P.D.”. While there is a theory that John was the cause of the acetate leak, which was mentioned in the official liner of this issue (and he himself does not deny it), it is possible that this was the version that he gave to the journalists. maybe. And the third and fourth discs include “GET BACK” from each generation. Both pitches were adjusted to be slightly slower. Furthermore, the equalization has been re-edited slightly, and both have increased warmth. Also, regarding the 1970 version, at the end of the performance of “Let It Be”, the attenuation sound of the keyboards was distorted (please listen carefully to the left channel), and the part where the lingering sound was slightly missing was repaired. By adjusting the pitch accurately, the running time written on the tape box of the existing album master and disc 4 of this disc perfectly match (please refer to the inside of the jacket for a photo of the tape box), making it a maniac. This is a very important point, but I hope you can understand that we have undertaken a thorough review, not just a recurrence. Ironically, with this official release, the 1969 and 1970 editions have become necessary as reference materials. Moreover, in the liner notes, it was mentioned in detail how important role Glyn Johns played, but the convenient thing about this title is that it covers all the acetates that appear there. If you listen to it while reading it, you will be immersed in it.
