Description
JOURNEY from the Robert Fleischman era disappeared in just a few months without leaving any official albums. Introducing a miraculous live album captured by a legendary master of the bubble era live performance. This work was recorded at “Long Beach performance on August 14, 1977”. It is the super best audience recording. Phantom Singer: It’s extremely rare just because it’s JOURNEY from the Fleischmann era, but the person who recorded the scene was Mike Millard, a charismatic person who is also a symbol of recording history. This work is a live album by the original master. Anyway, some of you might be wondering, “Who is Fleisch…?”, so let’s start with the 1977 schedule to understand the circumstances around that.・January 1st – February 1st: North America #1a (8 performances)《NEXT” released in February》 ・February 9th – April 26th: North America #1b (32 performances) ・May 27th: Saratoga Springs performance《June: Robert Fleischman joins》・June 17th – August 24th: North America #2 (32 performances) ←★Coco★・September 30th – October 8th: North America # 3 (4 performances) [October: Fleischmann leaves → Steve Perry joins] October 28th: San Francisco performance November 22nd-26th: North America #4 (3 performances) December 28th + 31st: North America #5 (2 performances) This is JOURNEY in 1977. Although they released “NEXT” in February, sales were poor, so they decided to add a full-time vocalist. The first singer who joined there was not Steve Perry, but Robert Fleischman. The new JOURNEY departs on tour. They toured the US as the opening act for bands such as BLACK SABBATH and EL&P. The Long Beach performance of this work was the 24th concert of such “North America #2”. This work recorded at such a scene is truly the best. It is natural that it is the best because it is the original master of recording artist Millard, but even though I am fully aware of it, I still sigh. An extremely thick core with no sense of distance, delicate and vivid details in the separate tones, a deep bass vibe that you can see right down to the waveform, a midrange with plenty of mass level response, and a high note that stretches beautifully and straight to the end. As always, I thought that even after checking every possible factor, there was nothing to complain about. Actually, there are only two points of concern. One was the pitch, which was extremely slightly off. This is typical of the Mirrored Excavation series, but the other one is unique to this work. The sound pressure becomes (slightly) unstable in the first half. Of course, in this work, we have thoroughly corrected such weak (though not so much) points. The pitch is perfectly just, and the sound pressure is also perfectly adjusted. Regarding the sound pressure, if you align it to the high parts, distortion will occur at the peak, so equalize it along the low parts. By keeping the entire structure neat and evenly raised, we succeeded in achieving both the beauty of a musical piece and the power of rock music. What is depicted with such a peak sound is an extremely rare show that combines the early progressive rock repertoire and Fleischmann’s singing voice. This day was an opening act for EL & P, so it was a short set, but the early part was also not recorded. It is a live album of about 37 minutes. The contents are…・Departure into space: Of A Lifetime (incomplete)・Invitation to the future: She Makes Me (Feel Alright)/Look Into The Future/On A Saturday Nite/It’s All Too Much/You’ re On Your Own…and it goes like this. The opening song that was not recorded is also seen as “Kohoutek”, and the show is almost “An invitation to the future sung by Fleischmann”. Despite the tour after “NEXT”, the fact that no new songs have been played may be a sign that they were already looking ahead to the “next” and searching for a direction. Of course, the focus is on Fleischmann’s singing voice, which is surprisingly (sorry!) powerful. Of course, he may not have been as successful as Steve Perry, but if Fleischmann had remained the same, he might have had an interesting history… His vocals are good enough to imagine what would happen if such a history happened. It lets you listen to the zation. JOURNEY from the Robert Fleischman era disappeared into the darkness of history, leaving only “For You” included in the later box set “TIME 3”. Although it is 37 minutes long, it is a superb piece that serves as an “official replacement” where you can enjoy the phantom ensemble with mirrored sound. ★This is rare! !
