Description

An eternal scripture that traces the history of The Beatles! The ultimate best album with an expanded and revised version of the original reprint sound source from the United States! ! American Edited Capitol Original Album 2CD Deluxe Edition American Edited Capitol Original Best Album The Beatles 1962-1966. The first compilation albums that chronologically compiled The Beatles’ representative songs released around the world in 1973, “1962-1966” (commonly known as the red album) and “1967-1970” (commonly known as the blue album). In 1973 after the Beatles broke up, the best compilation album “AΩ (The Beatles Alpha Omega)” (a box set containing 120 songs including The Beatles’ representative songs and solo songs on a total of 8 LPs in VOL. 1 & 2) was unofficially sold in the United States and recorded explosive sales. In order to compete with this, it was decided to release two 2-disc sets as official best albums approved by the members. The album was planned and produced by Capitol US under the direction of Alan Klein, who was the manager at the time, and the song selection was said to be George Harrison, but in fact it was Alan Steckler (who also selected and edited the album “Hey Jude” and the Rolling Stones’ “Hot Rocks”) under Klein’s instructions. The songs on this album are singles from the UK and the US, and representative songs from the albums, arranged in chronological order. It was a worldwide hit as an introduction to the Beatles, selling over 7 million sets in the US alone and over 20 million sets worldwide. It was released in various countries around the world, but at the time the sound sources were not unified and the albums were produced using sound sources owned by each country, so although the song selection is the same, the recorded sound sources are different, and it contains many versions and mixes unique to the 1960s, which are particularly noticeable in the UK and the US. It was a standard best album from the record era, but since the original album was released on CD in 1987, it had not been released on CD for a long time, but it was released for the first time in 1993, the 20th anniversary of its release. It was later released as a digitally remastered version in 2010 and a new edition with additional tracks in 2023, but both have a global standard sound source, so there are no differences in the sound source in each country as there were in the record era. CD = Original Capitol Masters This work, planned and produced in 1973 under the initiative of Capitol in the United States, is different from later digital sound source CDs in that it is based on analog masters owned by each country, so the sound source recorded is different in each country. The Capitol 2-LP (SKBO-3404) that was distributed in the record era from 1973 to the 1980s not only includes versions and mixes unique to the 1960s, but also has its own remix work for this album, and includes songs with reversed stereo separation and slightly different balances, and is uniquely edited by the US Capitol version that can only be heard here compared to the other countries’ versions. The obvious differences in mix include “HELP!” with a James Bond intro, “WE CAN WORK IT OUT” with its US-specific stereo balance, and “DAY TRIPPER” with its intro guitar starting from the left side, but the pseudo-stereo (duophonic) peculiar to Capitol in the 1960s is also subtly different from the 1960s, and “LOVE ME DO”, “I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND”, “A HARD DAY’S NIGHT”, “I FEEL FINE”, and “TICKET TO RIDE” are newly created. In addition, the vocal positioning of the songs from “RUBBER SOUL” has been changed depending on the song, and the album is not just a collection of existing sound sources as a best album, but has been remastered for this album. CD1 contains all the songs from the original 2-LP album on one CD. It faithfully reproduces the original sound source of the US Capitol release, which is a treasure trove of different versions and mixes, even more so than the UK and Japanese versions based on the original sound source. This time, a new analog master is used, and the recording is of higher quality than the edited versions of “Dr. Ebbetts” and others that were distributed in the past. The original analog master, which can be said to be different from the various digital remasters up to now as well as the national versions at that time, is completely reproduced with the latest remastering. CD2 contains a total of 36 songs selected from singles and albums not included in the red version as “Capitol Master Rarities”. It is a compilation that covers only the distinctive Capitol sound source among the unique US versions and mixes. It contains the original analog reprint sound source of 1973 edited by Capitol USA. The edited version with the unique US versions and remixes is completely reproduced with the latest remaster. It includes additional US versions and mixes as “Capitol Master Rarities”.
