The complete version of The Beatles’ radio show and unreleased film footage! The radio show that premiered the Get Back sessions in 1969 has been completely recreated in a new edit! A special collector’s edition with a DVD that also includes unreleased film footage of the movie Let It Be has arrived! In 1969, a test pressing and jacket design were produced, but the release of Get Back was postponed, making it a phantom album. After that, they quickly released Abbey Road, which was essentially their last album, and in 1970, Phil Spector released the album Let It Be, bringing the history of The Beatles to a close, breaking up. Against this backdrop, the earliest acetate master recordings produced by Glyn Johns, which can be said to be the prototype of the phantom album Get Back, were broadcast on radio stations across the United States. This was a historic episode in which unreleased recordings from the Get Back sessions were made public for the first time, and from these recordings came the earliest bootleg masterpiece Kum Back. The story goes that in March 1969, a reel tape copied from the first acetate master by Glyn Johns was sent by Apple’s Derek Taylor to Tom Donahue, a US radio DJ. It was then passed to DJ Steve Seagal of Boston radio station WBCN-FM, who exclusively aired this unreleased recording ahead of rival stations. In addition to the acetate master recordings, the show also aired new songs from the album “Abbey Road,” which had just been released at the time. “Posters, Incense and Strobe Candles” is the first title to unearth and record this historic radio show in the 1990s. The CD on Disc 1 contains the complete radio show from that time, including DJ chats and commercials. The latest remastering from the new sound source has improved the quality of the sound throughout compared to past analog records and CDs. In addition, all the songs from “Abbey Road,” which were simply played on record, have been replaced with outtakes. In addition, audio sources that were not included in the original have been added, making this the latest 2022 expanded and revised version of the original edit, which is different from previous versions. The DVD on DISC 2 mainly contains unreleased film footage that compiles unedited footage from the movie “Let It Be,” which recorded the Get Back sessions. Except for the promo footage for the single “Get Back/Don’t Let Me Down,” the footage is unedited and in black and white and color, so it is fragmented and has no sound and degraded image quality, but the audio has been newly recorded with stereo remastered sound sources that match the scenes. You can see the precious sessions that cannot be seen in the movie in nearly 120 minutes of restored footage.
