Description
HTP is a miraculous unit where two former members of DEEP PURPLE competed for beautiful voices. A masterpiece original recording of their performance in Japan is now available. This work is recorded on “May 15, 2002: Nagoya BOTTOM LINE performance”. It is a powerful audience recording. HTP is a unit that was formed when Glenn Hughes accompanied Joe Lynn Turner on his solo visit to Japan. In addition to the prototype in 2000, the combination came to Japan three times in 2002 and 2004. Among them, the official live album “LIVE IN TOKYO” was produced in 2002, which accompanied the debut work “HTP”, and the masterpiece “OSAKA 2002” is also familiar. First, let’s check each position from the schedule at that time.・May 11: Fukuoka Drum LOGOS・May 12: Hiroshima CLUB QUATTRO・May 13: Osaka BIGCAT ←※OSAKA 2002・May 15: Nagoya BOTTOM LINE ←★This work★・May 16: Nagano CLUB JUNK BOX・May 17+19: Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO ←※Official All 7 performances. Perhaps due to the popularity of “HTP”, the combination recorded the most performances in Japan even in their 3 visits. The Nagoya performance of this work was the 4th concert in the middle. This work recorded at such a show has a powerful and vivid sound. Recently, it is one of the DAT master excavations that have been producing masterpieces in our shop, and this work boasts an exceptional direct feeling even in the Nagoya collection. Even when listening with headphones, the hall sound component is hardly felt, and each sound is slammed in front of you. There are moments when it overpeaks because it is too powerful, but that is also part of the closed room feeling of the narrow “THE BOTTOM LINE”. Of course, the details that are separated beautifully even to the fine parts are also wonderful, and it is an ultra-direct sound that makes you run away from FM broadcasts on the street barefoot. What you can enjoy with such a close-up feeling is a miraculous full show where the two singers overlap their voices. The official “LIVE IN TOKYO” was an incomplete recording of the show because it was to fit on one CD, but this work is a complete recording of a consistent one-take recording from start to finish. Let’s organize the set here while comparing it with the official version. Joe’s repertoire (7 songs) Rainbow: Death Alley Driver/I Surrender/Street Of Dreams/Spotlight Kid Purple: King Of Dreams Solo: Challenge Them All (★)/Dark Days Glen’s repertoire (5 songs) Purple: Stormbringer/Mistreated/Burn (★) Sabbath: No Stranger To Love Solo: Can’t Stop The Flood Others (5 songs) HTP new songs: Devil’s Road/You Can’t Stop Rock & Roll/Better Man/Ride The Storm Others: Highway Star (★ *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on the official live album “LIVE IN TOKYO”. …And so it is. “NAGOYA 2000: DAT” from the 2000 Japan tour “MASTER” will be released at the same time, but while that was more of a “solo fusion” image, this work is full of duets unique to the new unit. It is a stage that highlights the good chemistry between the two. Based on “LIVE IN TOKYO”, you can also enjoy “Challenge Them All”, which was a hit as a commercial song for Asahi Super Dry at the time, and the encore DEEP PURPLE numbers “Burn” and “Highway Star”. Joe Lynn Turner and Glenn Hughes were not meant to be eternal partners given their personalities and careers. However, it was because their singing voices overlapped in HTP that they were able to shine with a variety of brilliance that could not be experienced as solo artists. Thinking about it, this may have been the project that classic rock fans were most excited about after the two’s “Purple”. This is a live album that allows you to experience the full show of this miracle unit on site. “May 15, 2002: Nagoya BOTTOM A powerful audience recording of the “LINE performance”.
