Description

Died of lung cancer on December 22, 2014, at the age of 70. Debuting in the late 60’s, he quickly became famous with his passionate performance at Woodstock in 1969, and in 1982, his duet with Jennifer Warnes for the theme song to the movie “Love and Youth”, “Up Where We Belong”, reached number one in the US. Just before he became a popular singer in Japan, he toured the US in 1981, and his show in Denver on May 2nd was recorded on a soundboard from the FM on-air master. At the time, he had been trying to break free from his long-standing drug and alcohol addiction, and the previous year, he had provided guest vocals on the Crusaders’ album “Standing Tall,” which was nominated for a Grammy Award, and he was gradually beginning to make a comeback on the scene. Here, he performs a full range of his best hits, from his early numbers to his 1978 album “A Whiter Shade of Pale,” and there are plenty of great performances that can be said to sum up the 1970s, from “With a Little Help from My Friends” and “You Are So Beautiful” to the emotional “A Whiter Shade of Pale.” Live at Rainbow Music Hall, Denver, CO, USA May 2nd 1981 : soundboard recording 01. radio program introduction / 02.
