Description
In 1993, JETHRO TULL celebrated their 25th anniversary in a big way with a series of box sets and best-of albums. This is a reprint of the original recording that conveys the scene of the tour, which is the main part of the anniversary project. What is recorded in this work is “October 15, 1993: London Performance”. This is an exquisite audience recording that completely records one night at the traditional venue “Hammersmith Apollo”. Speaking of their 20th anniversary tour, it is also memorable because it was their first performance in Japan in 19 years. First of all, let’s check the show’s position from the overall picture of such a world tour. 1993《April “25TH ANNIVERSARY BOX SET” released》・April 24th-28th: North America #1 (4 performances)・May 25th-July 18th: Europe #1 (39 performances)・August 20th-September 19th: North America #2 (23 performances), September 22nd: Japan performance, October 2nd-21st: Europe #2 (16 UK performances) ←★Here★・October 29th- November 22nd: South America/North America #3 (16 performances) February 16th – March 14th, 1994: Asia/Oceania (19 performances) March 16th – April 5th: North America #4 (16th performance) Performances) April 29th to August 20th: Europe #3 (33 performances) October 5th to 13th: South Africa (7 performances) This is a panoramic view of the “25TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR”. It was a large-scale tour that lasted a whole year and a half, but this work is the 11th performance of “Europe #2” that visited his home country of England. The concert was held about three weeks after that performance in Japan. This work that recorded such a show is truly an exquisite audience recording. The person we recorded was a master who is known at our store as a “British master.” He is a veteran who has been documenting the British scene since the 1980s, and of course was active in the 90s as well. I think there are many people who know the neat sound from the latest recordings, but even though this work was made 26 years ago, it has not lost at all. While breathing in a realistic atmosphere, it is as clear as modern digital equipment. Although it does not have a close contact like a sound board, the core that penetrates the transparent air is powerful like a laser beam, and the details are tight. London in 1993 is revived as if it was recorded yesterday. The sound depicts a full show full of the mood of the 25th anniversary. JETHRO TULL has many medley arrangements and unreleased instrumentals, so I will avoid analyzing the set, but the famous songs from yesteryear pop out one after another. When it comes to anniversary tours, there are many bands that play their entire career evenly, but in the case of JETHRO TULL, their style is focused on the “early days”. It opens with the first song “My Sunday Feeling” of “THIS WAS” from the beginning, and folds the repertoire of the 60s with “For A Thousand Mothers”, “Living In The Past” and “Bouree”. The first highlight came once the venue had warmed up enough. Original members Mick Abrahams, Clive Bunker and Gerry Conway appear as special guests. They will co-star in “So Much Trouble” and “I Wonder Who.” “So Much Trouble” is a cover of Brownie McGee, newly recorded on “25TH ANNIVERSARY BOX SET”, and is said to have been in JETHRO TULL’s early repertoire along with “I Wonder Who”. It is also precisely because of the 25th anniversary that the collaboration reveals the unknown “origin” in detail. After that, a gorgeous greatest hits. They will also perform “Farm On The Freeway” and “Budapest” from the 80’s, but other than that, they will be showing off a lot of famous songs from the 60’s and 70’s. A medley of “Songs From The Wood/Too Old To Rock’N’Roll/Heavy Horses” condensing the late 70’s in about 10 minutes, a jig “Passion Jig” themed on “A PASSION PLAY”, and from there it starts to snowball. You can enjoy plenty of rich full sets such as “A New Day Yesterday” that are unique to the 25th anniversary. And the mood of London witnessing such a show is also good. At the beginning, Ian screamed “Hello!” and the excitement rocked the venue, and the appearance of the former members received a huge ovation. Since then, a group of famous songs that have concentrated history have been met with passionate reactions. Of course, since we are in the audience of JETHRO TULL, we listen quietly during the performance, but the enthusiasm is something that can only be experienced in Japan. This work allows you to stand in the middle and enjoy a full show with great sound. Various special editions were released for the 25th anniversary, but they were just bonuses. The real celebration was on the tour. This work is a masterpiece that allows you to experience such a celebratory show in your home country of England.
