Description
From the North American tour with Stevie Ray Vaughn in 1989, New York on November 11th recorded all three existing audience sources that recorded the Madison Square Garden performance. Except for “Recorder 3”, a complete version that supplements each missing point with another sound is recorded. First of all, attention is paid to “Recorder 1” recorded on Disc 1. A new source that is said to have used the master of a recorder who appeared in recent years. What amazes you at first listen is the closeness and freshness of the sound. Even though it is a large venue recording, this direct feeling is amazing, and the closeness of the sound is the best of the three sound sources this time. The sound balance is good, the sound image is stable from start to finish, and the listening response is outstanding. The cut point is between the songs after the end of Goodbye Pork Pie Hat, and the missing 30 seconds are compensated for by “Recorder 2” on Disc 2. “Recorder 2” is a sound source that was previously released as a gift tile “MSG 1989”. Although the sound is a little farther away than “Recorder 1”, the stable and clear sound is wonderful, and there are no problems with the sound localization or freshness, making it a good enough title for Jeff’s sound source in 1989. Although there are some parts where the audience’s voices are noisy, the musical tones themselves are firmly captured, so there is enough listening from beginning to end. This is a song around 55 seconds into Day In The House, where there is a 17-second tape change due to a tape change, but that part is naturally connected with the “Recorder 1” sound source to realize the longest complete recording version. Another feature of this take is that it is recorded for a long time, 1 minute before the start of the live performance. Disc 3 is a remastered take of “No Opening Act – Don’t Be Late!” released by the old Masterport about 10 years ago. This is recorded almost uncut. In terms of sound quality, the sound has been made easier to listen to by reducing the sense of muffled sound and applying equalization with increased volume. Like “Recorder 2,” this one is a little small, but you can enjoy the whole live performance with Gene’s young, classy sound. The cheers and chats are not as loud as on “Recorder 2,” so you can concentrate on the live performance comfortably. All three sources are very good, and are excellent sound sources that fans will find worth adding to their collections. In particular, the sound of “Recorder 1” that was released this time is truly amazing, and there is no doubt that it is worth getting this edition just to get it. Total recording time is 3 hours and 27 minutes. A must-have 3-disc set for fans is here. Madison Square Garden, New York, NY.
